Sarah Joanne Martin

Sarah Joanne Martin of Bonifay, Fl passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019.  She was born April 17, 1938 in Knoxville, TN to Dr. Harold Harmon Walker and Ruth Marsh Walker.  Sarah grew up in Knoxville along with her older sister, Betsy. 

She attended McCampbell Elementary and Christenberry Junior High Schools. She was the in the first graduating class of the then-new Fulton High School. Sarah was and active child that loved being outdoors. In those days before air-conditioning, summers were spent with relatives in Maine. Sarah loved swimming in the nearby river and picking juicy raspberries and blueberries. She attended Bates College in Main for a year and then finished her degree in Knoxville at the University of Tennessee. She taught elementary school for a year in Indiana and continued teaching in Michigan where she met her husband, Paul Martin. In 1968, along with their daughter Harmony, they moved to Juneau, AK for the next chapter in their teaching careers. Later they settled in Anchorage, AK. On July 1, 1980 Sarah and her daughter Harmony moved to Bonifay, FL where she resided until her death.

Sarah loved music, creative writing, and various crafts. She loved the outdoors, her flowers, socializing with friends, and her beloved pets during her years in Florida. Bud, Einstein, and Willie held special places in her heart for their loyal companionship.

Sarah also enjoyed travel, especially a trip made with her daughter and son-in-law to New Zealand and Autstraila and several Road Scholar trips with her sister. Alaska was always special to her though. She loved to reminisce about her adventures in Alaska, especially her fishing adventures on Kenai River. She had many dear friends there that she kept in contact with over the years and that she missed dearly, especially Collie Johansen of Anchorage, AK. Sara attended the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses where she also left behind many dear friends. Their calls and visits were much appreciated during her time of illness.

Survivors include one daughter, Harmony Rathbun and her husband Chris, one grandson, Christopher Jared Rathbun of Bonifay, sister Betsy Reitbauer of Ann Arbor, MI, nephew Larry Reitbauer of Brigham, UT, niece, Susan Dice of Tecumseh, MI, and one great niece, Allison also of Tecumseh, MI.

Cornelia Mae Griffin Roberts, 86 of Marianna died Friday, April 19, 2019 at Marianna Health and Rehab.

Ms. Roberts was born on February 16, 1933 in Marianna, FL and spent most of her life there. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was of the Baptist faith. She truly enjoyed her work, serving at The Plantation House Restaurant for more than 17 years. She later went to work as a waitress at Tony’s Restaurant and retired after 25 years of service. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Griffin and Lettie Barfield Griffin; her husband, James Ralph Roberts and one brother, Early Griffin.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Roberts Register, and Pattie Roberts Kittrell and husband, Gene; four grandchildren, Ashlie Register Tyus, Arin Tharp and husband, Travis, Laurie Kittrell Campbell and husband, Michael, Angie Kittrell Burks and husband, Rob; seven great grandchildren, Allyson Cannady, Dylan Tyus, Grayson Tharp, Chase Campbell, Hailey Campbell, Macey Burks, and Hunter Burks; two great-great grandchildren, Jaeden Cannady and Harper Campbell; one sister, Patricia Griffin Pineda; one brother, E.D. Griffin; one brother in law, Bo Roberts; two sisters in law, Christine Roberts, and Anette Roberts, along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in Marianna, FL. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

John Allen “Joe” Hearns

John Allen “Joe” Hearns

Mr. John Allen “Joe” Hearns transitioned from life temporal to life eternal in Advent Health Hospital on April 14, 2019 in Tampa, Florida. He is preceded in death by his sisters: Ruth Brown, Catherine Laster, and Bernice Middliton; and brothers: Ulysse Hearns, Elry Hearns, Jr., and Robert Hearns.

Mr. Hearns was born on May 14, 1952 in Chattahoochee, Florida to Elry and Ruby Hearns. He moved to Malone, Florida and married Vickie Brelove on July 11, 1997. To this union two daughters:  Venisha and Jakivia Hearns were born. 

Joe worked for Oakley Trucking Company, Lily Industries, and Farley Nuclear Plant. After retiring from Farley Nuclear Plant he created his own business, Hearns Trucking Company and continued to work until his passing. Joe was very active in the community. He mentored several children and coached softball for many years. Some of those teams included the Blazin’ Heat, Snow Hill Sluggers, and Malone High School.   

Homegoing Celebration of Life services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 11:00 AM CST from the sanctuary of the Snow Hill African Methodist Episcopal Church in Malone, Florida where the Reverend Adrienne McClendon is pastor. Interment in the Snow Hill Cemetery. Vann Funeral Home in charge. 

Mr. Hearns will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until time for the service.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Vann Funeral Home. 

Mr. Hearns is survived by his wife, Vickie Hearns; his daughters, Jacqueline Small; Sonya Hearns; Nicky Sheppard; Venisha Hearns (Chad); and Jakivia Hearns; his sons, Joe Hearns and Jarvis Baker; his sisters: Emma McKnight, Jessie Mae Hatchet, Louise (Mack) Taplin, and Rose (Paul) Simon; his brothers: Earnest Lee Hearns, William “Billy” (Cheryl) Hearns, and James Edward Hearns; special friend, Victoria King; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John F. “Jack” Watts

John F. “Jack” Watts, 85, of Grand Ridge, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 24, 1933.   Jack was a veteran of the US Air Force and served his country honorably.   He was a faithful Christian and member of Providence Baptist Church, a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather and great grandfather.  Jack was committed to his family making sure that all knew of his support with expectations to achieve excellence.  He was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with his precious family especially his children and grandchildren they were the joy of his life. The legacy of Jack’s kind spirit, passion for Gator Sports and zest for life will live on through his family.  Jack will be missed immensely by his family and many friends, but never forgotten.

Jack is survived by his children, Chip and Laura Watts of Grand Ridge, FL; grandchildren, Crystal Watts and Jared Watts; great grandchildren, Ryan, Abby, Lauren, Hannah Kate, and Brighton; siblings, Ladon Mooneyham, Annette Tolar, Patsy Cambron and her husband Frank, Juanita Lashley and her husband Ronald; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raino and Gladys Watts; and his wife of 53 years Joyce Hewett Watts.

Visitation with family and friends will take place at Providence Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 10:00 AM CDT.  A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 11:00 AM CDT with Rev. Charles Kleiser and Rev. Kevin Yoder officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow in Dykes Cemetery.

Retired 1st Sgt. John Oscar Booker, age 67, of Campbellton, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 18, 2019 in Campbellton, Florida.

He was a native of Jackson County, retired from the United States Army and West Florida Electric Cooperative. He was a member of New Bethel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Campbellton, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Turner Mae and Tony Booker, Jr.; grandparents: Willie and Ressie Reynolds; and most recently a brother, Willie “Fat Mouth” Booker.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie Pearl Booker of Campbellton, Florida; his children: Marcus A. Booker of Tallahassee, Florida and Kimberly L. Booker of Pensacola, Florida; two grandchildren; Makenzi and Mathew Booker of Tallahassee, Florida; sisters and brothers: Ronnie K. Booker and Glory Booker-Reynolds both of Orlando, Florida, Reginald Booker, Tommie Rudy Booker and Elizabeth B. Lee all of Pensacola, Florida, Carolyn Booker of South Carolina and Rose Mary Blue (Jerald) of Williston, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends 

Public visitation will be 3-6 PM, Friday, April 26, 2019, in the M. Sue & Rodney D. Pittman Memorial Chapel, 5441 Cooper Street, Graceville, Florida.

Retired 1st Sgt. Booker will lie in repose at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2019.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2019, in the New Bethel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 2487 Hwy 2 in Campbellton, Florida.

Retired 1st Sgt. Booker will be laid to rest in the St. Paul/New Bethel Cemetery, 5180 Hwy 273, with full military honors, under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Florida.

The United States Army Honor Guards will serve as pallbearers. The following was selected by the family to serve as Honorary Pallbearers: Randy Williams, Jody Russ, Wallace Armstrong, Gene Britt, Charlie Benton and Kelly Blue.

Mae Pumphry Bishop

Mae Pumphry Bishop age 78 of Cottondale, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Jackson Hospital. She was born in Marianna to the late Rev. Hershel Monroe and Lucretia Alsobrooks Pumphrey. Mae lived in Montgomery for 33 years where she was member of Forest Park Baptist Church. She moved back to Cottondale in 1993.  Mae enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and working in her yard. She loved visiting her family and friends, and was an Auburn Football and Atlanta Braves fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby W. Bishop, brothers Paul Pumphrey, David Pumphrey, Willard Alsobrooks, and sister Verneal Runnels.

Mae is survived by three sons Robert Bishop (Lynn) of Montgomery, Michael Bishop (Donna) of Shreveport, LA, and Russell Bishop of Deatsville AL, brothers Donald Pumphrey of Pensacola, FL, and Doyle Pumphrey of Cario, GA, sisters Norma Ellis of Grand Ridge, and Berta Keene of Mauldin, SC, grandchildren Justin Barr (Nichole) of Shreveport, LA, Myles Bishop of Prattville, AL, Kelsey Bishop of Prattville, AL, Nicole Panaia of Shreveport, LA, great grandchildren Abby Gale Barr, and Adalynn Bishop. She is also survived a host of nieces, nephews, and special friend Kathy Blasi of Marianna, FL.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mae will be held at 1:00 PM in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27, 2019 with Rev. Dallas Ellis officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until time of service.

Innette McDaniel

Innette McDaniel, of Quincy, FL was born on March 19, 1948 in Jackson County, Florida and went to be with her Lord on April 20, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.  Innette was of the Baptist faith and dearly loved attending church services at Riverchase Health Center where she resided.  She was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with family and friends.  Innette enjoyed playing Bingo and rarely missed an opportunity to join a game in progress.  She enjoyed life and was always there to brighten the lives of others.  Innette will be missed deeply by her family and many friends, but never forgotten.

Innette is survived by one son, Charles Wayne Tucker (Monica); four sisters, Pat Crutchfield, Juanita Shepard, Jeanette Day, and Annie Rebecca Banks; four brothers, Ervin Alday, Lloyd Alday, Eddie Dewaye Alday and Frank Alday; three granddaughters, Sheri Marie Taylor, Jennifer Nicole Johnson, and Karen Cletter Dell-Handford; as well as two great granddaughters, Emma Taylor and Nora Johnson.  

Innette was preceded in death by her parents, Morgan Daniel and Annie Lula Alday; one sister, Mamie Alday; and two brothers, Joseph and Floyd Alday.

A Graveside Service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM EST with Rev. Roland Bamburg officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing.

Claude Keith Hilton, Jr.

On March 31, 2019, Keith, a loving husband and father of three daughters, joined his heavenly father at the age of 65, after a prolonged illness, at his home in Sneads, FL.

Keith was born on March 17, 1954 in Blountstown, FL.

Keith is preceded in death by his father, Claude K. Hilton, Sr.; his mother, Lillian Irene Moore Hilton; and his sister, Lisa Gail Hilton Martin. 

His is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Denise Boatman Hilton; his three daughters, Amy Hilton Money (Tony Money), Sylvia Hilton (Jimmy Amison), and Melissa Hilton Morgan (Ricky Morgan); seven grandchildren, Justin Carlisle, James and John Loftus, Lealeanna and Madelynn Kostovic, Aiden and Ciara Morgan; two nephews, Kristopher and Joshua Martin and his special pet, Prissy.

Keith graduated from Sneads High School in 1972, then attended Chipola Jr. College where he received his AA degree.  Upon Graduation he attended Florida State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in science and remained a die-hard fan of FSU.  He then married the love of his life, Jacqui in 1982 and were happily married for 38 wonderful years.  He was a teacher and coach at Chattahoochee High School for several years and then moved on to several different jobs with the State of Florida.  Most notably was his 22 years at Sunland in Marianna from where he retired on Disability. Keith was an avid fisherman and could often be found on the banks of the Apalachicola River and on the catwalk at the dam in Chattahoochee.  He always looked forward to his yearly vacations with his wife and daughters in Destin, FL.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at McAlpin Funeral Home in Sneads, FL on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM CST. A Celebration of Life service will be on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 12:00 PM CST.

Thomas Wayne Kiser, 63 of Auburn, Alabama died Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Marianna, Florida.

Thomas was born on January 18, 1956 in Miami, Florida. He enjoyed nature and being outdoors. He especially loved to hunt and fish. He worked at Auburn Kroger for 43 years serving in many positions. He served as a receiving clerk, a wine steward and worked in the diary department. He attended Church of the Highlands in Auburn.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Kiser, and father in law, Ernest Duffee. His survivors include his wife, Diane Kiser of Auburn, AL; one son, T.J. Kiser of Auburn, AL; one daughter, Kimberly Kiser, of St. Petersburg, FL; his mother, Norma Kiser of Opelika, AL; one brother, Mike Kiser (Debra) of Opelika, AL; two sisters, Linda Inglis (David), and Cathy Kiser, both of Birmingham, AL; his mother in law, Betty Duffee, of Marianna, FL; two brother in laws, Alan Duffee, of Marianna, FL, and Gill Duffee (Claudia) of Frankfort, KY.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Church of The Highlands in Auburn, AL. with Pastor Brandon Isbell officiating.

The family request flowers to be omitted, memorial contributions may be made to favorite charity of choice.

Charles Christopher Coulliette age 45 of Marianna, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019.

He was born on September 8, 1973 in Jackson County to the late Earl Coulliette and Martha Hinson. Charles was a native of Jackson County where he worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed nature, landscaping, and walking. Most of all he loved spending time with his children, and working on vehicles with his son. He also took pride in teaching his children the meaning of love.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Charles is survived by his son Christopher Coulliette, daughter Summer Coulliette, step children Dawson Barnes, and Justin Barnes, brothers Ricky Coulliette, and Jesse Coulliette, sisters Liz Shores and Debra. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Services for Charles will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 25, 2019 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Coullitte Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Charles Christopher Coulliette age 45 of Marianna, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019.

 Mrs. Maggie Dennis of Panama City, Florida and formerly of Marianna, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, April 18th at home with her family by her side.

 Not wanting to live without his help mate, Mr. Walter Dennis of Panama City entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 21st in Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City with family at his side.

 Fond and loving memories will forever remain for Mrs. Dennis, special nephew, Brad Hughes (Fwanntia) of Marianna, Florida; two sisters, Oree O’Neal and Elean Cotton; sister-in-law, Louise Dennis of Abbeville, Alabama; fond and loving memories will forever remain for Mr. Dennis with one sister, Louise Dennis of Abbeville, Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Oree O’Neal and Elean Cotton; a beloved great nephew, Brad Hughes; and respectively a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

 Celebrating the Lives Well Lived for the Dennis’  will be held Saturday, April 27th at 11a.m. at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church located at 1204 Palo Alto Avenue with Rev. Joe McCalister and Rev. Tim Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Redwood Cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.

Sammie Lee Williams

Ms. Sammie Lee Williams, of Marianna, Florida, entered into eterenal rest on Saturday, April 13th in Nashville, Tennessee.   She was 86 years old.

 She was a 1954 graduate of Blanche Ely High School.  She worked at Weston House in Pompano Beach, Florida.  She later became a professional upholstress and seamstress.  In 1970, she became a partner at Dorothy’s Upholstry.  In 2005, she moved to Marianna, Florida and united with St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church where she was very active.

 Her memories will be forever treasured by three children, Carlotta Brown of Greenwood, Florida, Dr. Charles Williams and wife Marla of Nashville, Tennessee and earl Williams, Jr. and wife Libby of Missouri; two sisters, Dorothy Fields of Pompano Beach, Florida and Christeen Carson of Detroit, Michigan; one sister-in-law, Joyce Gayle and husband Joseph of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

 A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, April 27th at 11a.m. at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Riley Henderson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.

Frederick Charles Hall

Deacon Frederick Charles Hall, affectionately called Fred, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 17th at Jackson Hospital.  He was 52 years old.

 He attended the public schools of Jackson County.  He worked various jobs after graduation and later became a truck driver for Anderson Columbia.

 Fred’s memories will be held dear by his wife, Gwendolyn Williams-Hall of Wewahitchka, Florida; one daughter, Brianna Hall of Marianna, Florida; three step-children, Christina Hall and husband Chris, Daryl Hayes both of Marianna, Florida and Deydron Williams of Wewahitchka, Florida; his mother, Cleola Hall of Marianna, Florida; eight  sisters, Sharon Baker, Heather Johnson (Morrell), Ashley Johnson, Quanisha Johnson, Chante Johnson, Sherry Johnson, Tawanda Baker all of Marianna, Florida and Tiesha Robinson of Texas; three brothers, Charmaine Johnson of Marianna, Florida, Tino Charles Lee of Texas and Cory Johnson and wife Brandi of Greenwood, Florida; his grandmother, Melinda Wade of Tampa, Florida; mother-in-law, Valene Williams of Wewahitchka, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other realtives and friends.

 A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held Saturday, April 27th at 1p.m. at Bethel Star Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor George Williams, Rev. William Harvey, Elder Willis L. Raines, III, and Jessie Randall officiating.  Interment will follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery  with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.

Frederick Charles Hall

Deacon Frederick Charles Hall, affectionately called Fred, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 17th at Jackson Hospital.  He was 52 years old.

 He attended the public schools of Jackson County.  He worked various jobs after graduation and later became a truck driver for Anderson Columbia.

 Fred’s memories will be held dear by his wife, Gwendolyn Williams-Hall of Wewahitchka, Florida; one daughter, Brianna Hall of Marianna, Florida; three step-children, Christina Hall and husband Chris, Daryl Hayes both of Marianna, Florida and Deydron Williams of Wewahitchka, Florida; his mother, Cleola Hall of Marianna, Florida; eight  sisters, Sharon Baker, Heather Johnson (Morrell), Ashley Johnson, Quanisha Johnson, Chante Johnson, Sherry Johnson, Tawanda Baker all of Marianna, Florida and Tiesha Robinson of Texas; three brothers, Charmaine Johnson of Marianna, Florida, Tino Charles Lee of Texas and Cory Johnson and wife Brandi of Greenwood, Florida; his grandmother, Melinda Wade of Tampa, Florida; mother-in-law, Valene Williams of Wewahitchka, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other realtives and friends.

 A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held Saturday, April 27th at 1p.m. at Bethel Star Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor George Williams, Rev. William Harvey, Elder Willis L. Raines, III, and Jessie Randall officiating.  Interment will follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery  with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.

Cora Mae Godfrey Garrett

A beautiful life began on March 1, 1945, for Cora Mae Godfrey Garrett in Sneads, Florida.  She entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 19th at home with her beloved family at her side.  She was 74 years old.

 A native of Jackson County, she was of the Baptist faith and a member of Sylvania Baptist Church.

 Precious memories will forever remain with one son, Timothy Garrett and wife Porsha of Marianna, Florida; three sisters, Carrie Godfrey of Sneads, Florida, Dorothy Wilson and Jeanette Myrick both of Marianna, Florida; six brothers, Willie Lee Godfrey of Greenwood, Florida, David Godfrey and wife Shirley of Marianna, Florida, Jerry Godfrey and wife Tara of Chattachoochee, Florida, Earnest Godfrey Jr., Kenneth Godfrey both of Sneads, Florida and Kelvin Godfrey of Tallahassee, Florida; three grandchildren, Aaliyah Patterson, Tujuan Garrett both og Marianna, Florida, and Tiffany Garrett of Tallahassee, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

 A Homegoing Celebration for Cora Mae will be held Saturday, April 27th at 12 noon at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church where Pastor Eddie Bowers is Pastor and Rev. Dr. Nelson D. Wilson, Pastor Dennis Libert, Rev. Joseph Curry and Rev. Kevin Williams officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.

Ms. Suzanne Wilson, 80, of Panama City Beach, FL, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her son, Scott Wilson (Camy); five grandchildren, Tiffany Grimsley (Garrett), Brooke Wilson (Jonathan), Heather Hughes (Ryan) Jon Wilson and Wyatt Wilson; four great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Sadie Paige, Hank and Olivia.  She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jon and Nell Hardwick.  Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Enterprise City Cemetery, Enterprise, AL.  Expressions of sympathy may be viewed or submitted at www.southerlandfamily.com

Kenneth Ray Smith

Kenneth Ray Smith age 75 of Fadette, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. He was born on May 19, 1943 in Fadette, Alabama to the late David and Annie Ruth Smith.

Kenneth was a lifelong resident of Fadette and attended New Hinson Baptist Church. He enjoyed tinkering on projects and fishing. Kenneth was an electrician by trade.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita Smith; brothers, Foy Smith and Robert Smith.

He is survived by his children, Sherry Carter and husband Kenneth of Salem, Alabama, and Todd Smith and wife Kim of Columbus, Georgia; one sister, Ruby Hagler; grandchildren, Drew Ellis, Corey Ellis, Cashe Smith, and Cooper Smith; great grandchildren, Logan Ellis and Levi Ellis

Graveside services for Kenneth will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in the Whitaker Cemetery.

Karin Bush Dunn

Around noon on April 26, 2019, Karin Bush Dunn, age 76, passed from the loving arms of her husband into the loving arms of her Lord.  Her earthly battles over, her pain finally relieved.  Blessed be the name of the Lord.  She was born in Pensacola, FL to Stokes and Ruth (Brock) Bush.

She was pre-deceased by her father and brother, Euyl Bush.  She is survived by her mother, her husband Charles Dunn, her daughter Beverly Smith and husband King, sister Loanva Howell and husband Bill, grandson Will Smith, and granddaughters Mary-Margaret and Lilli Smith.  Also surviving are brother in law Frank Dunn, nephews Wes Howell, Steve Bush, and Bryan Bush and niece Krystal Moore.

Karin retired after 30 years in the Washington County school system teaching fifth grade at Kate Smith Elementary and English at Chipley High School.  She taught not only school lessons, but life lessons as well.  Her love and concern for her students was a primary focus in her life.  She always enjoyed the hugs and compliments from former students.

Karin was a beach person.  It was her place of peace.  She so much looked forward to the yearly stays on Panama City Beach each October, basking in the sun and socializing with her dear beach friends.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma teaching sorority.  She served on the board of Chipola Foundation, including a term as Chairman.  She was a past member of Chipley Woman’s Club, serving as President.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Chipley.

A Memorial Service will be held April 30, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Chipley with Visitation one hour prior to the service.  Reverend Ebb Hagan will officiate.  Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing.   Donations may be made in her honor to Chipola College Foundation, 3094 Indian Circle, Marianna, FL 32446 for scholarships.
