Mrs. Shirley A. Jones, was born on December 22, 1941 in Apalachicola, FL and passed away at her home in Sneads, FL, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 6, 2019.  Shirley lived most of her life in Chattahoochee, FL before moving to Sneads, FL and she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chattahoochee, FL.  Shirley was a classy lady who enjoyed shopping and eating out with friends and family, especially buffets.  She was also member of the Garden Club and loved babysitting her grand babies. Shirley was a loving mama, nana, and nanny who will be missed dearly by her loved ones.   

Shirley is survived by her three daughters, Belinda Wyman (Robert) of Perry, FL, Donna Couto of Sneads, FL, and Tracy Kellett (Wallace) of Pelham, GA; one sister Marilyn Brooks (Donald) of Lawtey, FL; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Miss Toombs was a member of the Saint John Missionary Baptist Church in Marianna, FL.

Homegoing Celebration services will be held on Saturday, January 12,2019 at 11:00 AM at Vann Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Flowers officiating. Interment will be in the Saint John Cemetery Marianna, FL. Vann Funeral Home in charge of services.

The family will receive friends at Vann Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Friday, January 11, 2019.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a loving and devoted family:

Mrs. Lillie Mae Johnson of Bonifay, FL, formally of Marianna FL, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in Dothan, Alabama.

She was a member of the New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Homegoing Celebration services will be held on Thursday, January 10,2019 at 1:00 PM from the sanctuary of New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church located at 2870 Barnes Street in Marianna, FL, 32448 with the Rev. George Clayton officiating. Interment in the Orange Hill Cemetery Marianna, FL. Vann Funeral Home in charge of services.

Mrs. Johnson will lie in repose at the church from 12:00 Noon until time for the service.

The family will receive friends at Vann Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a loving and devoted family:

Barbara Jean Ramsey age 72 of Marianna passed at the Sunland Center on Monday, January 7, 2019. She was born in Graceville, Fl on October 10, 1946 to the late Walter and Lothel Ramsey.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and multiple siblings. She is survived by her siblings, Judy Kelley, Robert Ramsey, and Kent Ramsey.

A private burial will be held at the Cottondale First Assembly of God Church cemetery.

Gale McCain Brooks age 84 of Marianna passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Chipola Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on July 2, 1934 in Tampa, Fl to the late George and Helen Goethe.

Gale lived in Naples, Fl from 1950 until 2016 where she served her Lord and Savior in ministering through music.  She was of the Church of God. Gale learned to play piano at an early age and continued to use her talent throughout her life. She will be remembered by her family as a devout Christian and loving mother.

Gale was preceded in death be her parents, and husband Emeral McCain.

She is survived by her children, Keith McCain, Pamela Hastings, Stephen McCain, Rebecca Sullivan, and Heidi Brenson; sisters, Naomi Chandler and Darlene Blackburn. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorialization will be by cremation.

Richard Andrew Neel

Richard Andrew Neel, 67, of Sneads went to be with the Lord after a battle with COPD and pneumonia on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Jackson Hospital.

Born in Quincy, Florida, Mr. Neel was a long time resident of Jackson County. He proudly served four years in the United States Air Force after which he served 17 years with the United States Postal Service while farming and going to college. He then went on to retire from the Department of Corrections. Mr. Neel was well loved and liked by everyone and will be sorely missed.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Neel; three children, Anthony W. Neel, Linnie P. Neel, and Andrew C. Neel; two sisters, Patricia Phillips and Wenonah Sorrel and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 am, Friday, January 11, 2019 at Providence Baptist Church in Grand Ridge.

Arthur Clyo Brown, Jr.

Deacon Arthur Clyo Brown, Jr. was born on November 15, 1951 to the late Clara and Arthur C. Brown, Sr., in Vernon (Millers Ferry), Florida.  On Monday, December 31, 2018 in the Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center of Panama City, Florida, Arthur answered the Master’s call and exchanged his earthly life for an eternal one.

Arthur was educated in the public-school system of Washington County.  Before his injury he worked several years with the City of Panama City Beach, Florida. 

Being raised in a Christian home, he accepted Christ at an early age and strayed away but later returned back to the Lord and joined McQueen’s Temple First Born Church of the Living God where he served faithfully as the Chairman of the Deacon Board under the leadership of Jr. Bishop John O. Brown until his death. 

Arthur lived a blessed life even with his challenges.  In one of his last conversations, he said “I am still fishing for souls”.  He was a man full of wisdom, knowledge, and a jack of all trades with a big heart. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Jamie Brown; and his sister: Josie Brown-Bell.

He leaves to cherish his memories three (3) loving sisters: Susie Igles, Clara McDonald, all of Vernon, Florida, and Blonde Siples of Ebro, Florida;  a brother : Robert Brown, Sr., of Vernon, Florida;  a loving significant other/caregiver: Ms. Evelyn Daniels aka “His Boo” of Panama City, Florida;  Two (2) aunts: Arlene Butler and Hilda Burns (Josh) of Panama City, Florida; three (3) uncles: Clarence Brown, Willie Junior Brown (Betty), both of Vernon, Florida, and Leonard Brown (Phyllis) of Melbourne, Florida; loyal and loving caregiver until his death: Stevenson Edwards and Sylvia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  

In his life Arthur assisted in raising three children along with their children as well.  He was a wonderful father, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend.  

A Celebration of Arthur’s Life will be held 11 AM CST, Saturday, January 12, 2019 from the sanctuary of the McQueen’s Temple First Born Church with pastor, Jr. Bishop J.O. Brown and Jr. Bishop W.A. Potter, Sr., officiating. Committal Service will follow in the St. Luke Memorial Gardens of Vernon, Florida with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida, directing. 

Public Viewing will begin on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 12 Noon-9 PM CST in the Cooper Funeral Home Chapel of Chipley, Florida.  Remains will lie in repose at the church 1hr prior to services on Saturday.  Friends may sign the guestbook online at www.cooperfhchipley.com.

Janice Register

Mrs. Janice Register, 82 of Graceville went to her Heavenly Home on Friday, January 11, 2019.

Mrs. Janice was born in Graceville on October 29, 1936 to the late Isaac and Dixie Parker Crutchfield. A graduate of Graceville High School, Mrs. Janice was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She began playing the piano at an early age and then taught piano for many years. Mrs. Janice was a longtime member of Damascus Baptist Church, where she was not only the pianist but also over the years was a Sunday School teacher, Jr. choir director, G.A.’s director and loved to visit the shut-ins.

A Home-going service will be 11 a.m., Monday, January 14, 2019 at Damascus Baptist Church with Bro’s. Brian Taylor and Chester Padgett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing.

Family will receive friends at the church Monday, 10 a.m. until time of service

In lieu of flowers family request memorials be made to the Lottie Moon (Missions) Christmas Offering c/o Damascus Baptist Church 5083 Hwy. 77 Graceville, FL  32440.

Preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Jimmy Register, two sisters Nellie Francis Crutchfield, Ruth Lane and one brother Frank Crutchfield.

Survived by her two children Cynthia Register McQuaig (Michael), Panama City, FL, Richard Register, Marianna, FL; six grandchildren Jeremy Longshore (Mandy), Crystal Girton (Jordan), Brooke Newell (Kyle), Kelsey Davis (Stephen), Kaitlin Register, Michelle Miller (John); ten great grandchildren Chloe, Christian, Claire, Caleb, Logan, Steven, Lilly Grace, Savannah, Kinsley, Grey; two sisters Lucille Perdue, Kyle, TX, Yvonne Davis (Kenneth), Tallahassee, FL; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Matt Kelley, 35, of Marianna, died Thursday, January 10, 2019 in Marianna. 

‘Matt’ graduated with honors from Marianna High School in 2002. He went on to receive his Associates degree from Chipola College and received his Bachelors degree from Florida State University. He had a very special bond with his oldest Niece, Ava. He loved Florida State Football, golf, and his dog, Stella.

 Terry Matthew Kelley is survived by his father and mother, Terry and Lynn Kelley; sister, Kasey Kelley Long; nieces, Ava and Dylan Long; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, and by a very special group of friends that he considered brothers.

 Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Pastor Chris Franklin officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service, beginning at 5:30 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donations to the American Heart Association and/or St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Marvin L. Floyd

Marvin L. Floyd (81) died on January 9th, 2019. A service will be held Thursday January 24, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Fellowship Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL.

Marvin was born November 26th, 1937 in Malone, FL to the late W.B. and Mamie Lee Floyd. Marvin was the oldest of four children. Marvin served four years in the United States Air Force. He worked for the State of Florida at the Department of Juvenile Justice and retired as a Bureau Chief. After his retirement he volunteered for Good News Ministries up until his passing.

Marvin is survived by his wife Joany Floyd, his two sons Todd Floyd and Dr. Jim A. Kuypers and his daughter Kristine Copeland. He had one grandchild, Kristen Copeland. Lifesong Funerals & Cremations (850/627-1111 or lifesongfunerals.com) is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jerry E. Husted

Jerry E. Husted, 68, left this earth on Sunday, January 13, 2019. He was born in Rutherfordton, NC on December 17, 1950 to Ivan and Marie Husted. He grew up in the Tampa area before moving to Round Lake in the 1970’s, 

Jerry is survived by his wife Linda, his children Carolyn Henderson(Loren), Jerry Husted, Jr., and step-son Derek Alday (Mallory). His greatest treasure was his grandchildren Erin, Grace, Josie, Davis, and Myles, and his great grandchild Riley who was the “apple of his eye”. Jerry is also survived by brothers Russell Husted (Vicki), Keith Caplinger (Belinda), Kevin Husted, his mother-in-law Gemelia Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry loved working hard. He was a man of many talents and had owned service stations, garages, a trucking company, and was retired from Jackson County Vault and Monuments. He also loved his church family at Gulley Springs Baptist Church in Bonifay where he faithfully attended. Jerry also enjoyed traveling and exploring antique shops along with attending racing events. Jerry was nicknamed McGuiver for his ability to fix virtually anything. He was a loving and loyal family man and friend

In lieu of flowers, the Husted family has requested donations be made to the Liberian Ministry of Gully Springs Baptist Church, 2824 Highway 90, Bonifay, Florida 32425. Jerry had a love for children and this ministry is honored to receive gifts in honor of this compassionate, kind, and giving man. For  more that 14 years, Liberian Ministries has been reaching the nation of Liberia, Africa for Jesus. Through donations this ministry educates and rasies children through their orphanage, school, and church.

Services for Jerry will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. A private family interment will follow.

Carl Painter age 83 of Sneads, Fl passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Jackson Hospital. 

Carl was born on November 17, 1935 in Destin, Florida to the late Garland and Pearl Painter. He has lived in Sneads for 12 years moving here from Northern Virginia. Carl was retired from the Department of Defense and enjoyed camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Horace Painter.

Carl is survived by his son Joseph Lee Painter, daughter Lynn Wilkins, brother Junior Painter, two grandhchildren Jonathan Wilkins and Joshua Wilkins.

Memorialization will be by cremation.

Donna G. Withers age 52 of Marianna, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019. She was born on April 18, 1966 in Panama City. Donna had been a resident of Marianna since 1998.

She enjoyed making crafts and watching movies with her family.

Donna was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents, Dallas E. Withers Sr. and Sharon Winslow Withers.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer Lynn Harper (Jason) of Marianna, and Charles Glenn Harper (Bethany) of Marianna; brother, Dallas Withers Jr. (Wanda) of Adairsville, Georgia; sister, Lisa Withers of Winnie, Texas, and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Kleiser officiating.

Travis Kyle Vickery, 45, of Marianna, FL, died Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Jackson Hospital.

Travis was born January 24, 1973 in Tampa, FL to Ellis and Edna Lee Vickery. He worked as an I.T. Technician for many agencies including the State of Florida. 

He is survived by his wife, Laurie Vickery; daughter, Amber Lynn “Bur” Vickery; parents, Ellis and Edna Lee Vickery; brother, Ellis Hal Vickery; sister, Sandra Vickery; and special friend, Carla McCormick.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2019 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Brother Billy Shoupe officiating. Interment will follow in Vickery Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

Mr. James E. Martin, aka James E. Ward, age 59, of Panama City, FL formerly of Port St. Joe, FL went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 10, 2019 in Panama City, FL.

James was born on October 4, 1959 to Martha E. Ward Freeman and Lawrence Martin, Sr. in Port St Joe, Florida.

James attended school at Washington Elementary School and Port St Joe High where he graduated in 1977. James served in the US Navy for 11 years. James lived and worked in Panama City Florida. 

James survivor includes a daughter, Charron Addison of Tallahassee Florida; his sibling: Yolanda Pittman, Cathy Williams (Clifford), Darrell Ward, Elder Arion Nick Ward (Debbie), Dexter Baxter, Annette Davenport, Lawrence Martin, Jr, Carl Martin, Paul Wright, Melvin Martin, Eunice Martin, Dennis Martin Rusty Martin, LaShunda Martin, Audrey Lowery (Robert III), Sharon Freeman, Montez Freeman, Valeria Freeman, Larry Freeman (Sylvia), Debra Freeman, Brenda Garland (Kenneth), Alvin Freeman and Calvin Freeman (Erica); stepfather Arthur Freeman; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM (EST) at The Body of Christ Jesus Church in Port St. Joe, FL.

A celebration of life will commence at 1:00 PM (EST) from The Body of Christ Jesus Church, 106 Harbor Street in Port St. Joe, FL.

He will be laid to rest in the Forest Hill Cemetery under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Florida.

Mr. Millard Eugene Hightower, age 87, of Marianna FL formerly of Caryville, FL went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2019 in Marianna, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Blume and Maggie Lee Johnson Hightower.

He is survived by his sister, Leola Baker of Marianna, FL; his special caregiver and nephew, Eric Wendell Hayes of Marianna, FL; special niece, Lucinda Baker; a great niece, Cliff Reynolds. aka Monica Ming; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, January 18, 2019 from 4-7 PM at M. Sue and Rodney D. Pittman Memorial Chapel, 5441 Cooper Street in Graceville, FL.

A celebration of life will commence at 11:00 AM in the  M. Sue and Rodney D. Pittman Memorial Chapel, 5441 Cooper Street in Graceville, FL with Elder Robert L. Copeland officiating.

He will be laid to rest in the Orange Hill Cemetery, with military honors, under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Florida.

Jacquelyn M. “Jackie” Lincoln, 51, of Tallahassee, FL, formally of Malone, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at her residence.

Jackie was born April 4, 1967 in Marianna, FL to Fauline and Patricia Bedsole Mathis. Jackie enjoyed doing crafts, making pottery, and most importantly spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fauline J. Mathis.

Jackie is survived by two sons, Jordan and John Lincoln; mother, Patricia Mathis; sister, Jeanine Pumphrey; nephew, John David Pumphrey; and many more extended family members.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019 in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Dwana K. Mullins, age 62 of Cottondale, FL passed from this life on Tuesday morning, January 15, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on June 21, 1956 in Panama City, FL to the late Johnny and Imogene (Wright) Kelly.

Dwana is a lifelong resident of the Jackson County area and was a member of Cottondale First Baptist Church.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death one brother, John Carmel Kelly.  Survivors include, husband, Jeffery Mullins of Cottondale, FL, three sons, Willard Wayne Porter II and wife Alisa and grandchildren Eden and Canaan of Cottondale, FL, Johnathan Wyatt Mullins and fiancée Cheyanne of Cottondale, FL, Shawn Mullins of Tennessee, two sisters, Sherry Daffin of Marianna, FL, Marie Kimbrel and husband Donnie of Altha, FL, four brothers, Jesse Kelly of Cottondale, FL, Allen Kelly and wife Mary of Cottondale, FL, Ronald Whiting Kelly of Altha, FL, Leroy Newton Kelly of Altha, FL, sister in law, Norma Kelly of Chipley, FL.

Rickey Evans

Mr. Rickey Evans, age 56, of Campbellton, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2019.

Mr.  Evans was born on December 7, 1962 to Henry L. Evans and the late Alice Green Wells in Marianna, Florida. 

Rickey served in the United States Army and later moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. Then he moved to Panama City, Florida, and began to drive trucks until his health began to fail. He accepted Christ later in life and became a member of Holy Neck Missionary Baptist Church.

Rickey is survived by his father, Henry L. Evans of Hillside, New Jersey; a sister: Valerie Pelt of Campbellton, Florida; two brothers: Rasean Evans and Shakiem Evans of Hillside, New Jersey; aunts: R. Bell Curry of Graceville, Florida and Reba Leaks of Farmingdale, New Jersey; uncles: Lewis Balcom, Jr., and Herman Evans both of New Jersey; his devoted cousins/caregivers: Johnny (Debra) Lane and Joan Davis; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 3-7 PM, Friday, January 18, 2019 in the M. Sue & Rodney D. Pittman Memorial Chapel, 5441 Cooper Street, Graceville, Florida.

A celebration of life will commence 2 PM, Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Holy Neck Missionary Baptist Church, Marianna, FL.

Anna Mildred Whitehead Edenfield went home to be with the Lord at 6:08 p.m. at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center in Panama City, on Saturday evening, January 12, 2019 at the age of 98. Mildred went peacefully and was surrounded by family, loved ones, and wonderful caregivers.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Lucille Whitehead, her husband John Frank Edenfield, of 57 years, her daughter Ruth Ann Edenfield, her two sons Clifford Dowling Edenfield and Chester Winifred Edenfield, her sister Gladys Dennis and brother Johnny Whitehead.  Mildred was Pentecostal Holiness by faith and knew our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 

Mildred leaves behind her oldest son Charles Franklin Edenfield and wife Tammie of Matthews, NC, her twin daughters Martha Jeanette Burnette and husband Thomas of Panama City, FL, and Mildred Jeannine Peacock and husband Keith of Altha, FL.  She also leaves behind a daughter-in-law Sidney Edenfield, a sister-in-law Alene Whitehead, both of Altha, FL, and best friend Mary Young of Panama City, FL.  A rich and full life for Mildred included her 13 Grandchildren: Andrew, Joseph, Mary, Heather, Cliff, Aresha, April, Chasity, Zachary, John David, Kristen, Tanner, Trent, 15 Great-Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

Mildred was born on October 10, 1920 in Altha, Florida to loving parents and was raised up in the Holiness Faith.  She married her husband Frank on June 26, 1941.  She first was a homemaker, then began to work outside of the home at the tobacco farm in Quincy, Florida and then as a welder at the Shipyard at the Port of Panama City.  She then returned to school to receive her Licensed Practical Nursing Certification in May, 1963 and her Emergency Medical Technician Certification in December, 1977.  She worked in various Health Care facilities in the area until her retirement in 1984.  She continued working part time as a caregiver to others, so kept up her license until she was in her early 70’s.  When she was not working or busy raising children, she enjoyed shopping, crocheting, organ lessons, pottery classes, singing, dancing, and working with her flowers. When able Mildred attended the Altha Church of God with Jeannine and also attended the Central Pentecostal Ministries Church with Jeanette.

Mildred lived a very full and long life, loved her family dearly, and was blessed with very good health most of her 98 years.  

Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 11:00 am (CST) at Altha Church of God with Reverend Allan Nichols and Reverend Vint Norris officiating. Interment will follow in Edenfield Cemetery in Altha. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 6:00 pm (CST) until 8:00 pm (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
