 Rheunnell Segers Phillips

Rheunnell Segers Phillips, 75, of Moultrie, died Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Hancock, Dr. Johnny Nixon, Rev. Larry Wiley and Rev. Jeff Brady officiating.  Interment will follow in Baker Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Casketbearers will be Ronnie Jordan, Keith Daughtry, Thomas Henning, James Allegood, Jason Herrod and Jason Williams.

Her grandchildren will serve as Honorary Casketbearers.

Born March 12, 1943 in Atlanta, she was the daughter of the late Henry Tolbert Segers and Mary Magdalene Goff Segers.  She retired from the Georgia Department of Labor as an interviewer in 2010, with thirty-three years of service.  Mrs. Phillips was an active member of New Covenant Church.  She enjoyed word search puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Perry Phillips and one brother, Houston Randolph Segers.

Survivors include two daughters, Becky Moore and husband Steve of Moultrie and Keisha King and husband Bernie of Hartsfield; one son, Keith Phillips of Moultrie; one sister, Geraldeene Neel of Sneads, Fla.; ten grandchildren, Gadston Moore and wife Pellie, Dusty Moore and wife Sara, Tabitha McCoy Castleberry and husband Brad, Tyler Spillers and wife Ashley, Jackson Spillers and fiancée Brooke, Keili Sinclair and husband Christopher, Brandi Stokes and husband Caleb, Ashley Longoria and husband Oscar, Josh King and fiancée Brittany and Robbie Phillips; twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Ronnie Cochran

Ronnie Cochran, 70 of Noma Community, Bonifay, Florida passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness.

Ronnie was born in Dothan, AL on September 8, 1948 to the late A.J. and Boncil Hatcher Cochran. Ronnie has worked with Barber Farm Service in Campbellton, FL for a number of years, in which he was truly appreciated by not only his boss and co-workers but also by all the customers. His most cherished was his beloved wife Patricia and daughter Courtney. He loved spending his time with them, helping Courtney with the horses at their home on Clayhill Ranch and as they all traveled for barrel racing events. When at home and relaxing he would spend time on the frontporch drinking his sweet tea. Ronnie also loved to fish and would every chance hecould with different family members or friends. He will be truly missed by all…

A Celebration of His Life will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Noma Town Hall.

In memory of Ronnie, the family would like to ask memorials be made to The Wounded Warrior Project (his dad was wounded in war) or Hurricane Michael victims.

Preceded in death by his parents and one brother Greg Cochran.

Survived by his beloved wife Patricia Cochran, daughter Courtney Cochran, Noma, son Devin Cochran, Dothan, AL; brother A.J. “Bill” Cochran and wife Brenda, Ariton, AL; four nephews and two fur-babies Shiloh and Allie.

Willard L. Mills

Willard L. Mills age 64 of Marianna passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018. He was born in Marianna on January 6, 1954 and spent most of his life in Jackson County. Willard was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, and dancing. He also loved driving semi-trucks and riding motorcycles.

Willard was preceded in death by his father, William Earl Mills; two sisters, Barbara Smith and Sarah Webb; one nephew, Charles McClendon. He is survived by his mother, Louise McKenzie; children, Jacky Mulkey, Jennifer St. Pierre, Jonathon Mills (Stacy), and Jason Mills; sister, Lynn Burch (Wendell) and seven grandchildren.

Memorialization will be by cremation.

Lola Bell Clark Russ

Mrs. Lola Bell Clark Russ, a beloved Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister and Christian Friend.   Mrs. Russ was born on September 18, 1931, in Gordon, Alabama to the late Mr. Jessie James Clark Sr., and Mrs. Louisa (Luizer) Grimes Clark who preceded her in death.  Mrs. Russ was called to her heavenly home on November 2, 2018, in Tampa FL, at the home of her baby daughter, Holly M. Russ, where she was currently residing and being lovingly cared for.  Mrs. Russ was a Devout Christian and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at a very early age.  Mrs. Lola Russ was a loving, caring and giving soul with a highly affectious laugh and smile.   She was God fearing and always kept a prayer and praise in her heart.  Even after being diagnosed with dementia she never forgot how to pray and call on the Lord.  She worked in her community faithfully up until the diagnosis of her dementia and early Alzheimer disease which impeded a lot of her memory activities. This beautiful flower will be remembered for her courage, bravery and strength through those difficult times.  But, especially for her undying love she had for her mother, father, husband, children and grands.

Mrs. Lola was gifted musically and artistically as she loved playing the piano and keyboards.  She spent most of her adult life caring for and protecting her children.  She raised all of her children under the Proverbs 22:6 scripture, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Her work stint was in the restaurant and hotel industry where she worked to help provide for her family.  Mrs. Russ’ most prided career was as a beautician and entrepreneur where she was the proud owner of Russ Beauty Salon in Port St. Joe, FL.  She serviced most of the community with her infamous Press-N-Curl.

Mrs. Lola Russ was highly adored and cherished by the Love of her life and husband of 62 years, Mr. Thadus Russ, Sr. (deceased) and her ten children:  Ronald Jean Clark (deceased), Thadus Anthony Russ, Jr. (deceased), Frederick Bernard Russ (Tressie), Ricky McKenzie Russ (deceased), Stephanie Rena Turner (Eugene), Dorothy Michelle Aiken (Brian), Martin Luther Russ (Rosetta), Denna Evyette Day (Marion), Danna Suzette Pittman (Michael) and Holly Meredith Russ.  Her siblings: Annie P. Taylor (deceased), L. C. Clark (deceased), Jessie James, Jr. (deceased), Rosa Lee Robertson and Mattie Lou Gammon.  She also has her living extended family: Annie Mae Larry (sister-in-law), Curtis Russ (brother-in-law) and Jesse Lee Russ (sister-in-law).  Her grandchildren: Calandra Hammett, Channing Pittman, Martina Russ, Terricka Turner, Quithia Foreman, Daniel Day, Alexis Lamar, Kiara Tharpe and Landon Russ.   Mrs. Lola Russ also leaves to mourn five beautiful great grandchildren who will miss her dearly. 

A memorial service will take place from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at New Bethel Baptist Church at 208 N. Park Avenue in Port St. Joe, FL 32456, Friday, November 9, 2018.

The funeral services will take place at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church at 1935 Jacob Main St., Jacob City, FL 32431, at 1:00 pm CST., Saturday, November 10, 2018.

Mrs. Lola Russ is prepared by Christian Memorial Funeral Home at 5441 Cooper St., Graceville, FL 32440.  The family is leaning on God’s word.  Luke 23:43 “And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.”

Ollie S. Barfoot, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2018 in Dothan, Alabama.  She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County Florida.   She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Sneads. In past years, she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Communion Steward.  After many years of dedicated service as a Seamstress at Florida State Hospital, Ollie retired and enjoyed spending time with her family. Ollie was an amazingly strong and resilient lady filled with love for everyone she met.  She was a joy to spend time with and was loved by many.  Ollie loved to play the board game “Sorry”, but mostly enjoyed winning.  She was known as the “poet laureate” at church and as a “mother to many”.  Ollie loved to cook and was known for her legendary teacakes.  She loved her family most of all and enjoyed taking care of them in any way she could. Ollie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be remembered with great affection. 

Ollie is survived by two daughters, Kathy Dunaway and her husband Russell of Marianna, FL and Janice Brown and her husband Kenny of Sneads, FL; two sons, Elvin Barfoot and his wife Marcia of Grand Ridge, FL and John Barfoot of Sneads, FL; twelve grandchildren, Tanya Lawrence (John), Heath Barfoot (Kelly), Brigitte Rehberg (Tim), Johnny Barfoot, Randa Freeman, Rhett Wright, Chris Brown (Tammy), Jerrod Brown (Amy),Jennifer Brown, Lee Dunaway (Emily), Will Dunaway (Phyllis), and Ashley Johnson (Steve); nine great grandchildren, Maddie Barfoot, Eli Barfoot, Kyle Lawrence, Jacob Brown, Emily Brown, Tayler Johnson, Julian Dunaway, Vivian Dunaway, and Jameson Johnson; one great-great grandchild, Brayleigh White, as well as, one very special care giver and friend Vicke Gray.  

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Pete Barfoot; her parents, Hollie Edward and Lillie Ann Simpson; four sisters, Stella Wilson, Annie Laura McDaniel, Rosa Lee McDaniel and twin sister Dollie Rivers.

Visitation with family and friends will be held at Sneads First United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 10:00 AM CST and a Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 AM CST with Dr. Ernie Gray, Rev. John Lawrence and Rev. Heath Barfoot officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow at Pope Cemetery.

Flowers are welcomed; however, in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Sneads First United Methodist Church Sound System Fund.

Mary A. O’Bryan (Seay), 64, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Bonifay Nursing and Rehab Center. 

A long time native resident of Jackson County, Florida, Mary called the area home her entire life and held careers that served the community. Prior to suffering multiple health issues that prevented her from continuing serving the community, she served as a bus driver for the Jackson County School Board, followed by a career in healthcare as a Home Health Aide.

Mary was preceded in death by her brother, James Seay, and her parents, William and Jimmie Lee Seay. 

She is survived by two daughters, Amy Harrison and husband, Travis, and Amanda Byram and husband, William; son, Benjamin Ayers; and four grandchildren. 

Memorialization will be by cremation with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local Hurricane Michael charity of your choice in her name. 

The family also wishes to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and staff at the Bonifay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for providing care and compassion to her where she resided in her final years.

Agnes Whiddon Barbee

Agnes Whiddon Barbee of Grand Ridge, Florida beautifully & peacefully passed away on November 5th, 2018 at the age of 96.

Preceding her passing were James Monroe Barbee, her husband of 63 years, her mother and father Nora & Chester Whiddon, and her five brothers and sisters, Hazel, Junior, Billy, Jimmie & Glen.

Throughout her life, Agnes excelled as a mother and as a wife, working at a shipyard during the war marking steel panels destined for the sides of battleships, rolling cigars at a factory in Greensboro and becoming a life-long Cosmetologist with her own custom-built beauty shop.

She is survived by her son Jimmy, her beloved Yorkie Bella Rose, and by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of a life well lived will be held Saturday November 17th at Marianna Chapel at 1pm Central, with burial at Cypress Cemetery.

Barbara Jean Fears age 75 formerly of Grand Ridge, Florida passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 in Monticello, Florida.  She was a native of Jackson County born on April 7, 1943 in Grand Ridge to the late Gordon B. and Pauline Elizabeth Rogers Fears.  Barbara was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in the yard, baking, and bowling.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, and one sister Helen McCardle.

She is survived by one son Clay Blackmon of Marianna, two daughters; Lisa Higginbotham and husband Larry of Tallahassee, Cindy Blackmon of Marianna. Barbara is also survived by three grandchildren; Cale Higginbotham, Garrett Higginbotham, and Cody Blackman.

Services for Barbara will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Roland Rabon officiating. Interment will follow in Collins Chapel Cemetery in Malone, FL. The family will receive friends one prior to the service.

Mr. John B. McDaniel, 81, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018 in Bainbridge, Georgia surrounded by his loving family.  A native of Jackson County Florida, he was born on June 1, 1937.  John was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Sneads.  He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his family most especially his grandchildren.  He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

John is survived by his precious wife, Vickie McDaniel of Sneads, FL; two sons, Craig McDaniel and his wife Teresa of Sneads, FL and Gary McDaniel and his wife Susan of Sneads, FL; five grandchildren, Jenna McDaniel, Brittany McDaniel, Allison McDaniel, Timothy McDaniel, and Mallory McDaniel; two great grandchildren, Carter White and Braelyn White. 

John was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than fifty years and mother of his children, Shirley McDaniel; his parents Willies and Bessie McDaniel; two sisters and four brothers.

Visitation with family and friends will be at McAlpin Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 beginning at 10:00 AM CST with Graveside Services following at 11:00 AM CST in Carpenter Cemetery with Rev. Michael Murray officiating.

William “Billy” Fulcher

William “Billy” Fulcher age 79 of Sneads passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at his residence. He was born on October 23, 1939 in West Virginia. Billy spent most of his life in Chesapeake, Virginia and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing, boating, and gardening. Billy loved playing guitar and singing. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Lille E. Fulcher; brothers, Ray, Charles, Ed, and George; sisters, Carol and Hazel. Billy is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Jean Fulcher; children, Billy Fulcher Jr., John Shourds, Allen Shourds, David Shourds all of Chesapeake, Virginia, Debra Covell of South Florida, Tammy Dixon (Steve) of Crossville, Tennessee, Barry Fulcher of Panama City, Florida, and Jamie Fulcher of Alabaster, Alabama. Billy is also survived by one brother, John Fulcher of Arkansas, sister, Ida Cook of Norfolk, Virginia and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Homer David Atkins

Homer David Atkins, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Holmes County, Florida on September 3, 1926 to the late Major Lee Atkins and Amanda Phillips Atkins. Mr. Homer was a  U.S. Army Veteran and most significant duty assignment was Co “G” 136th Inf. Regt., Camp Rucker, Alabama. He served as SGT in both World War II and Korean War. He received a Purple Heart, a Presidential Unit C Distinguished Emblem for heroism both for Korea and several other decorations, badges, commendations, citations and campaign ribbons. Mr. Homer retired after 32 years from the Civil Service at the U.S. Navy Base in Panama City known today as Naval Coastal Systems. He was a longtime member of East Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

A Home-going service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at East Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Bro. Greg Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow in

Church Cemetery, James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing.

Family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, 10 a.m. until time of service.

Preceded in death by his parents and one son Bruce Atkins.

Hazel Marie Phillmon, 84, of Sneads died Saturday, November 10, 2018 peacefully at home.

A native of Sneads, Florida. Mrs. Phillmon had resided in Jackson County for the past 30 years. Until her retirement she was an LPN in the medical field.

Survivors include her husband, Buel Phillmon; five children, Cindy Rahn, Gail Day, Becky Longoria, Susan Mosley, and Alan Writch. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Myrl Jarmo; stepson, Paul E. Phillmon; and parents Marvin Robinson and Alice Hamilton Burke.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Cypress Community Church in Cypress, Florida. with Pastor Roland Bamberg officiating. Interment will follow at Cypress Community Church Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior at Cypress Community Church.

Mrs. Nettie Cotton Hall, 75, of Campbellton, Florida went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2018 at the Signature Healthcare of North Florida in Graceville, Florida.

She was a retired Certified Nurse’s Assistant, and widow of Mr. L.C. Hall.

She is survived by her brother, Samuel Faxon, Sr. and his wife Judy of Campbellton, Florida; numerous other relatives and friends.

Robert Earl Coley, 73, died Saturday, November 10, 2019 at his home in Blountstown, Florida.

A native of Jackson County Florida, Mr. Coley had resided in Jackson County for the past 40 years, where he was employed by the State of Florida as a Sargent with the Florida Department of Corrections. He was a faithful husband, father and man of God. Mr. Coley was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Earl Coley; two brothers, Fred Coley and Buddy Coley; and sister, Betty Coley

Survivors include his wife, Susan Coley; mother, Oneita Coley; two sons, Rev. Charles and Maritza Coley of Blountstown, Florida, Paul and Donna Coley of Tallahassee, Florida; six grandchildren, Jordan and Joshua McKinnie of Charlston, NC, Cassie Coley of Winter Gardens, Florida, Clinton Coley of Panama City, Florida, Harrison Coley of Daleville, Alabama, Sofia Coley and Bella Coley of Blountstown, Florida, Brandy Pachue of Porter, Texas, Ben Mayo and wife Cherri of Old Town, Florida; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2 P.M., Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in Marianna, Florida, with Reverend Bill Mayo officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Open Arms Assembly of God Church Building Fund of Kinard, FL.

Billy Ingram Shults age 84 of Graceville passed away at his residence on Monday, November 12, 2018. He was born in Villa Rica, Georgia on February 18, 1934 to the late Grady David and Amzie Mae Shults and was of the Assembly of God Faith. Billy moved from Oxford, Mississippi to Graceville in 1969 for a job with REA as a General Superintendent. He left REA in 1976 and went to work for SONY until 1994. Billy was an avid bass fisherman and enjoyed studying geology. He spent many years fixing bicycles to help children’s charities at Christmas time.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Charles Olan Shults. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Yvonne Shults; daughters, Patricia Shults Yeomans and Pamela Sue Sowell (Wayne); grandchildren, Jacqueline Pabon (Miguel) and Lisa Diane Sowell; great grandchildren, Elaina and Julius.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 in the Williams Funeral Home with Pastor John Broome and Pastor Michael White Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Marvin Chapel Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2018 in the Williams Funeral Home.

Sister Alneta Pittman age 85 of Campbellton, FL passed away Monday November 5th at her residence surrounded by her loving family. 

Funeral services were held 12 p.m. Saturday November 10th 2018 at New Bethel C. M. E. Church located 2487 Hwy 2 Campbellton, FL., with Elder/Pastor Oscar Massey, Reverends Richard Curl, Earnestine Daniels and Douglas Cotton officiating. Interment followed in St. Paul/New Bethel Cemetery located at 5180 Hwy 273 Campbellton, FL 32426, with McKinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton, FL. directing. 

Sis. Alneta Pittman was born in Jackson County, Florida July 29, 1933 to the late Alfred Johnson Sr. and Magnolia Curl Johnson. She was converted at an early age and joined New Bethel C. M. E. Church of Campbellton, FL where she served as an Usher for 55 years.  She married Lewis Pittman and together they raised seven children.  

She was preceded in death by one sister, Sherman Robinson.

She is survived by Her Children: Mattie Booker (John) of Campbellton, FL; Howard McKinnie (Carolyn) of Campbellton, FL; Gene Otis Daniels (Jacquelyn) of Greenwood, SC; Michael Britt (Marilyn) of Campbellton, FL; Carol Pittman of Campbellton, FL; Sharon Pittman (Robert) of Macon, GA; and Catherine Pittman of Campbellton, FL. Two Sisters: Elneta Wesley of the Stateline Community and Viola Pittman (Foy Lee) of Campbellton, FL. One Brother: Alfred Johnson Jr (Henrietta) of Maplewood, NJ. 10 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, friends, in-laws and a dedicated friend (Elease Varner).
