Martha Ann Thomas Crum

Martha Ann Thomas Crum, 71, left this world for her Heavenly Home on Easter Sunday April 1.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 4 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Williams Funeral Home in Graceville with Reverend Ruby Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Marvin Chapel Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will be receiving visitors at Samantha Angerbrandt’s home at 5492 Martin Street Graceville, Florida through Wednesday.

Affectionately known as Ann, she was born in Montgomery, Alabama on June 8, 1946. She was the daughter of Eddie Lee and Martha Elizabeth Brock Thomas. She was raised in the Campbellton-Graceville community and attended Campbellton School.

She was a loving mother to four daughters and a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and many more great grandchildren. She lived in the Graceville community for the majority of her life and worked at several area businesses including M&P Trucking, Campbellton-Graceville Hospital, and Signature HealthCARE of North Florida. She was of Christian faith and had been a past member of Graceville Community Church and Graceville 1st Assembly of God.

She is predeceased by her parents, brother Eddie Thomas, sister Kathy Hysmith, granddaughter Courtney Bright, grandson Justin Ketchum, and son-in-laws Dylan Reed and Larry Gates.

She is survived by her daughters Sherry (Gerald) Whitehead, Lisa (Steve) Ketchum, Beth Reed, and Shannon (David) Evans; sister-in-law Myrl Thomas; uncle Johnny Dillard; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, and family.

Herman Bradley, Jr.

Herman Bradley, Jr. of Panama City, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2018 in the Bay Medical Covenant Hospice Unit of Panama City, Florida.  He was 61 years old. 

Herman was born on March 24, 1957 to Ernestine Bradley and the late Herman Bradley, Sr. in Panama City, Florida.  He was reared and attended  the Grove Temple First Born Church of Panama City, Florida and was an devout FSU fan.  

He is survived by his children: Karon Bradley and Sabrieka Bradley; six (6) grandchildren; mother: Ernestine Bradley, all of Panama City, Florida; siblings: Ronnie Wilkerson, Joyce Caldwell, David Bradley, all of Panama City, Florida, Diana Amerson of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Jacqueline Thornton of Ramstein, Germany, Christopher Bradley of Orlando Florida, and Sebrina Anglin of Alabama; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

A Celebration of Herman’s Life will be held 11 AM CST, Saturday, April 7, 2018 from the sanctuary of the Grove Temple First Born Church of Panama City, Florida with Pastor Clinton Brown, officiating.  Committal Services will follow in the Hillside Cemetery of Panama City, Florida with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida, directing.

Clarence Thomas “Tommy” Hayden, Jr., 57, of Grand Ridge, passed into the arms of his heavenly father Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at his home with his loving family around him.

A native of Julian, NC, Tommy had resided in Jackson County for the past 14 years.  He previously worked as owner/operator as a truck driver and in the lawn service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Sr. and Hattie Corsbie Hayden; maternal grandparents, Roscoe and Ora Corsbie; paternal grandparents, Raleigh and Essie Hayden; a step daughter, Robin Dietrich.

Survivors include his wife Alma Barfield Hayden; a step granddaughter, Amanda Williams who lovingly called him “Daddy”; step daughters, Debra Williams, Deena Powell and husband Emmitt; seven step grandchildren, one step great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews; three sisters, Carolyn Davis and fiancé Dennis Welch, Debbie Cox and husband Ronnie, Cherise May and husband Alton; one brother, Frankie Hayden and wife Judy.

Graveside funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2018 at Shady Grove Cemetery with Rev. Flavious Pittman officiating with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

The funeral cortege will depart James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel at 2 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018 for the graveside service.

James J. Sykes

James J. Sykes, 82, of the Dellwood Community, passed away on April 7, 2018 at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Florida. 

He was born July 20, 1935 in Island Grove, FL and graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1954, with a senior class of twelve students.  After high school, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Kansas, where he met and married his wife, Joyce of 62 years. He was later stationed in Albuquerque, NM where his two daughters, Deanna and Brenda were born. After leaving the army in December 1960, he moved to Gainesville, FL where his son, Jamie was born. While in Gainesville, he initially worked as an electrician. He later became a State Electrical Inspector and traveled to, and inspected state construction sites from Key West to Pensacola. During his travels, he became enamored with the Florida panhandle area. In 1983, he moved to Chattahoochee, FL where he accepted a position at the Florida State Hospital as a maintenance supervisor. In 1989, he purchased some land in Dellwood, FL and began working his magic to transform his property into a well-manicured farm.  In 1995, he moved to his farm in Dellwood. James retired from the state in 2001 and spent most of his time working on his farm. In 2013, he was severely injured while loading a bull. After several surgeries and months of rehabilitation, he eventually was able to resume his favorite past time of cutting his grass.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan Sykes and Gladys Hardee Sykes, and three brothers, Thomas, William “Billy” and Kirby Sykes.

Mr. Sykes is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce Burkett Sykes and their three children, Deanna Sykes Witte (William) of San Diego, CA, Brenda Sykes Lastinger (David) of Tallahassee, FL, and Dr. James “Jamie” Sykes (Tammie) of Marianna, FL; five grandchildren, Connie Flores (Marc), Stacey Chadwell (William “Billy”), Mallory Lastinger, Morgan Sykes and Lyndsey Sykes; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Marjorie Boles (John) of Gainesville, FL, Cora Sue Price (Joseph) of Island Grove, FL, Frances Coulliette (Audry) of Jacksonville, FL, Berneice Woodard of Micanopy, FL, and Glenda Miller (Perry) of Fairview, TX.

Funeral Service will be at Welcome Assembly of God Church, 6784 Messer Rd, Grand Ridge, FL, Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverends John Holley and Steven Subel officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Visitation will be at James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel, 4278 Lafayette St., Marianna, FL, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 5 – 7 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gary Kiger and paternal grandfather, Donnie Sykes.

Jayce is survived by his loving parents, Danny Sykes and Chelsea Kiger of Panama City Beach, FL; maternal grandmother, Amanda Kiger of Panama City Beach, and paternal grandmother, Laura Bragg of Marianna; paternal great grandparents, J.R. and Sheryl Boone of Marianna.

David E. Neel, 51, of Sneads, died Monday, April 2, 2018 at his residence.

David was born July 4, 1966 in MacClenny, FL. He was a graduate of Sneads High School and later joined the Marines for four years. David worked with the U.S. Federal Prison system for several years prior to retiring.

David is survived by his parents, Daniel D. Neel of Sneads and Carolyn F. Raines of Marianna; two sons, Bryndyn Lare Neel of Grand Ridge and Cambryn Neel of San Diego, CA; brother, Daniel C. Neel of Sneads; two sisters, Sonya Michelle Motley of Marianna and Cynthia L. Hewett of Bascom.

Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Sneads Assembly of God Church with Pastor Juno Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in Cow Pen Pond Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Michael Lee Brincefield and Kristen Angel Martin

Michael Lee Brincefield age 24, born on June 18, 1993 & Kristen Angel Martin age 19, born February 10, 1999; passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018 in Calhoun County, FL.  

Michael was raised in Alford, Fl by his mother Barbara Brown, his father Aubrey Clements, and step-father Clibbert Brown. Michael was a very kind and loving kindred soul who was always known to be the class clown. He had a huge heart and was always willing to help a family member or friend. Michael was a hard worker who enjoyed providing for his sweet, beautiful Kristen. He was a very respected young man who was loved and will be missed by so many. Michael touched so many lives with sincere, loving hands, and heart. He loved his sweet Kristen with all his heart. They were young but their love was so true, so deep, and so genuine. Kristen was born on February 10, 1999 to Buddy Joe Kriegbaum and Angella Martin Taunton. She was a very hard worker, who loved her job as a Pre-School teacher at the Learning Tree where she was loved by so many.  Kristen was always smiling and always met you with open arms and heart. She loved her Michael with all of her heart and soul; and like him too she was always willing to help anyone in need. Michael and Kristen spent five wonderful years together here on earth and will now spend together for eternity. 

Michael was preceded in death by his step-father Clibbert Brown, grandmother Erma Jane Brincefield, and great grand mother Mildred Elizabeth Carnley. 

He is survived by his father Aubrey Clements of Compass Lake, his mother Barbara Brown of Alford, his birth mom June Marie Brincefield, uncles; Albert Newton Brincefield of Alford, Ted Allen Brincefield of Blountstown, FL, aunt Elizabeth Pallay of New Jersey, brothers; Mark Carl Clements of Alford, Jerry Wayne Morris of Alford, Joseph Allen Brincefield of Tennessee, Issac Jerimiah Brincefield of Cottondale, an Brandon Carl Brincefield of Alford. 

Kristen was preceded in death by her sister Cassandra Kriegbaum.

She is survived by her mother Angella Taunton of Sneads, her father Buddy Joe Kriegbaum of Blounstown, aunts; Carol Martin Hill (Ruben) of Blountstown, Julie Adams of Marianna, brothers; Michael Foulks of Reading, Pennsylvania, Dillin Foulks and fiancé Tiffany of Wausau, and Zachary O’Bryan of North Dakota, sister Heather Foulks of Sneads, 6 nephews, 2 nieces close cousin Alycia Martin. They are also survived by their lifelong friends; Hannah Davis, Nanna Ryerson, and Jonathon Odom all of Panama City, Joanie Ann Rene Odom of Alford, Ronald Edinburgh of Marianna, and David Albright of Alford. As well as many more beloved family members and friends. 

Services for Michael and Kristen will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 13, 2018 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Compass Lake Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of service.

Bonnie L. Geddie, 71, of Marianna, went to be with the Lord, April 9, 2018 at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Bonnie was a resident of Sneads, FL for many years, later moving to Marianna to live with her brother due to health issues. She was a member of Sneads First Assembly of God Church, to which she loved her church family. Mrs. Bonnie enjoyed watching TV, doing word searches, and being with family and friends. Bonnie also dearly loved her animals. 

She is survived by one sister; Betty Fuqua; five brothers, Wayne Hayes of Comanche, TX, Jimmy Hayes of Port St. Joe, FL, Alton L. Hill and wife, Eloise of Sneads, Fl, James Hayes and wife, Mildred of Marianna, FL, Billy Hill and wife, Elizabeth of Graceville, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Geddie; mother, Bonnie M. Ellis; father, Alton C. Hayes; two brothers, Howard McDonald and Larry Wendell Hayes.

Home going services will be 11 A.M. Friday, April 13, 2018 at Sneads Assembly of God with Pastor Juno Douglas and Brother Wendell Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

 The family will receive friends from 9 A.M. until service time at the church.

Louise Pumphrey

Louise Pumphrey age 85 of Marianna passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 in Bay Medical Hospital.  

Louise was born in Greensboro, Florida on January 27, 1933 to the late Gordan McAlpin and Mary Lou Chester. She has spent her lifetime in Jackson County where she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marianna. Louise volunteered at Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and her church for 20 plus years.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband Charles Pumphrey, Jr., and son Michael Delaney Melvin.

She is survived by two sons Charles Pumphrey and wife Kristy, Harold Pumphrey and wife Tammy both of Marianna, her daughter Patricia Bruner of Foley, Alabama, two sisters Daisy Peacock of Rocky Creek, and Annette Lippencott of Panama City, five grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Services for Louise will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. John Wamsley and Pastor Jack Hollis officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.

 Refroe Earl Long

Mr. Refroe Earl Long of Marianna, Florida, the Mt. Tabor Community entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 5th in the Seasons Hospice Inpatient Center at Northwest Hospital in Maryland.  He was 77 years old.

He was born October 13, 1940 to the late Earl and Allie Leslie Long.  His only brother, DeFlynn preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hannah Bell Long.

He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church.

He earned his B.S. and Masters degrees in Education and was employed as a teacher for the Jackson County Public School System.  He taught at Marianna Middle School for many years before retiring.

Precious memories will linger with one daughter, Refronia Nicole Long (Derrick) of Baltimore, Maryland; three grandchildren, Earl Griffin of Marianna, Florida, Devon and Alannah Jones both of Baltimore, Maryland; step-son, Eric Mann and children of Marianna, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Tabb of Marianna, Florida and Eotree McClain of  Miami, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, April 14th at 11a.m. at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Dwingt Cockerham, Sr. officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the caring staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna, Florida.

The remains will lie-in-repose for one hour prior to the 11a.m. funeral time on Saturday at Mt. Tabor.

Dorothy Lee Johnson

Mrs. Dorothy Lee Johnson of Marianna, Florida, the Evergreen Community entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 6th in Jackson Hospital.  She was 77 years old.

Born August 4, 1940 to the late Ernest and Rosie Lee Bulloch Williams, she was of the Baptist faith and a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church.

She was retired from the Jackson County School Board.  She worked in the Culinary Department at  Marianna Middle School for many years.

Precious memories will linger with her husband, Harold S. Johnson of Marianna, Florida; three daughters, Barbara Pierre’ (Charles) of Marianna, Florida, Brenda Williams (Tyrone) of Tampa, Florida and Pamela Thomas of Marianna, Florida; three sons, Paul Lettinhand, Rev. Wallace Godwin and wife Vickie, and Lester Thomas and wife Deborah all of Marianna, Florida; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson of Tallahassee, Florida and Angela Johnson of Quincy, Florida; one brother-in-law, Gerald Johnson and wife Martha of Tallahassee, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, April 14th at 11a.m. at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Wallace Godwin, Rev. Henry Forward, Minister Larry Bush, Elder John Lampley, Rev. Samuel Everett and Rev. Randy McMillan officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the caring staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna, Florida.

The remains will lie-in-repose for one hour prior to the 11a.m. funeral time on Saturday at Evergreen.

Lynne Marie Meyer, 58, of Marianna died Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Jackson Hospital. 

A Native of Illinois, Mrs. Meyer had resided in Jackson County since 2002 where she worked in retail as a cashier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eric Kent Meyer and her parents, Kenneth and Carolyn Epperson.

Survivors include her two sons, Nick and wife, Tara Meyer and Chris Meyer; grandsons, Paxton and Maverick Meyer all of Marianna; brother, Dana Epperson and wife, Colleen of Illinois; sister, Amy Burslem and husband, Clive of Canada.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Christian Center Church with Pastor Gino Mayo officiating.

She was a member of the Greater Buckhorn Missionary Baptist Church, a faithful member of the choir.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Greater Buckhorn Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Darrold Franklin, Rev. Felix Long Jr. and Rev. William Harvey, Pastor, Officiating.

Mrs. Marion F. Spates Allen, known as “It,” of Bascom, FL, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on April 10, 2018 in Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL.

She was a member of the New Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

She was educated in the Jackson County School System and retired from Sunland A.P.D. with 33 years of service.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at New Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church 5239 Liberty Hill Road Bascom, FL 32426 with Rev. Richard D. Wilson, Rev. Samuel Everett, Rev. Timothy L. Allen, Rev. LeRoy McLeroy and Elder Dr. Nelson D. Wilson, Pastor, Officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Gerald Glen Pardue age 48 of Bonifay, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at his home.  Gerald is a native of Monroe, Louisiana born on December 20, 1969. He moved to Bonifay four years ago where he was a member of Bonifay First Assembly of God and was an Electrician.

Gerald is survived by his daughter Erica Pardue of West Monroe, Louisiana, sister Kimberly Barnett of Bonifay, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11a.m. Wednesday April 18th at McChapel A. M. E. Church located 4963 Old U S Road Marianna, FL with Pastor Chris Jordan and Reverend Richard Davis officiating and with Mckinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton, FL directing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday April 17th at McKinnie Funeral Home Chapel located 5304 Bowden Hill Road Campbellton, FL.

Mary Lou Mount Collins was born February 26, 1929 in Malone, FL to the late Reverend Kermit Mount, Sr. and the late Sophia Robinson Mount.  She accepted Christ at an early age and joined McChapel A.M.E. Church.  She was a Steward, the Church Musician and was recently bestowed the honor of Deaconess. Deaconess Collins was a devoted and faithful member until her health began to fail.  

She married the LOVE of her life the late SFC Andrew M. Collins.  God blessed their union with 3 children: the late Carl Andrew Collins, Joyce Ann & Miriam Diann Collins.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  

She worked at Sunland Training Center for 27 years and retired as a Human Service Supervisor.

She was very active in the community volunteering with the Malone Senior Citizens, the Malone High School and was a volunteer Poll Worker for Jackson County.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Beauty Rose Chapter #72 OES-PHA in Marianna and the Daughter of Isis Safia Court #165 in Panama City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two siblings and her son.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories:

Two Daughters: Joyce Ann McKinnie (Matt Sr.) of Campbellton, FL and Miriam Diann Collins of        Malone, FL.

Two Siblings: Mary Kate Neal (Issac) of Greenwood, FL and Kermit Watts Mount, Jr. (Muriel) of Pensacola, FL.

One Sister-in-law: Fanny Pearl Collins of Quincy, FL.

One Brother-in-law: Shelle Newton of Malone, FL.

Four Grandchildren: Kevin Collins, Takia R. Collins, Victor Rodriquez and Adrianne S. Austin. 

Seven Great-Grandchildren: Tyrese Brandon, Justice, Taylor, Willie, Trinity and Kaliyah & a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Travis E. Pettis, age 73, of Alford, Florida went home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2018 at Flower’s Hospital in Dothan, Alabama.

Travis was born on February 3, 1945 in Washington County, Florida to Carl Pettis Jr. and Ollie Mae Nelson. He was a lifelong resident of the Florida Panhandle and a graduate of Cottondale High School Class of 1964. He was also a member of Orange Hill United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his son, Tracy Earl Pettis and wife Dana of Manchester, Tennessee; brother: Robert Johnson of Marianna, Florida; sister: Patricia Register of Panama City, Florida; very close friend: Clerea Hodges and husband Robert of Marianna, Florida; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren’

Funeral services will be held 2:30P.M. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Orange Hill United Methodist Church in Chipley, Florida. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery in Cottondale, Florida with Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8P.M. Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Obert Funeral Home in Chipley, Florida.

Mr. Howard Bess of Marianna, FL, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Friday, April 13, 2018 in Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida.

Mr. Bess attended Mayhaw High School in Blountstown, Florida. He was a member of the Caverns Road Church of Christ in Marianna, Florida and employed by Mowery Elevators.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the sanctuary of the Second West Florida Missionary Baptist Association located at 4110 Herring Avenue in Marianna, Florida 32448 with the Reverend Wallace Godwin, Minister Larry Bush, Superintendent Delano Reed, Minister Nathaniel Pollock, and Doctor Elijah Cole officiating. Interment in Sunset Gardens in the Saint Rose Community of Grand Ridge, Florida.

Mr. Bess will lie in state from 10:00 AM until time for the service.

A viewing will be held at Vann Funeral Home on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
