Her other passions included, cooking, baking, planning, arranging, collecting china, and sewing.  In fact, she was an excellent seamstress and she made the wedding vails and bouquets for her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook so much that her children often teased her about always cooking for an army. If you went to her house you knew that there was always an open door and there was always a meal and great conversation. Aside from the vast domestic duties of maintaining a household, Helen was immensely educated in history, and social economics, politics and how things work.   She was outspoken and did not shy away from offering the advice based on her life experiences.
