Barbara Peterson

Barbara Peterson, 61, of Chattahoochee, FL passed away on July 4th.  Barbara was born in Miami, FL on July 10, 1955 to the late Frank and Annie L. Peterson.  She was preceded in death by two children, three sisters and one brother.  Barbara leaves a loving and devoted family of two children, Kalisha Smith Davis (Demetrius) and Delmarcus Frost both of Chattahoochee, FL; grandchildren, Demetrius Davis, Ty’keyonna Davis, Ty’Riek Davis and Emanuel Frost all of Chattahoochee, FL and Ja’mia Curry of Quincy, FL; brother, Curtis Peterson (Patricia of Chattahoochee, FL; Mable Underwood (Larry) and Jackie Dixon (Curtis) of Quincy, FL, Theresa Rumph (Gus) of Gretna, FL; god-sister, Helen Walker Shorter of Greensboro, FL; uncle, Eddie Williams (Earline) of Greensboro, FL; aunts, Marion Smith of Kanas City, Elouise Williams and Annell Blair of Gretna, FL, and Paula Palmer (Sam) of Quincy, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be Sat., July 15th, 1:00pm at Blessed Hope M.B. Church in Quincy, FL.  Visitation will be Fri., July 14th from 3-8 pm EST at Crawford and Moultry Funeral Home.  Crawford and Moultry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Kirk Matthew Graham, 60, of Rochester, NY passed away on June 20th.  Kirk “Soul Man” was born November 4, 1956 to the late Mr. Claude Graham and Ruby Lee White Graham in Chattahoochee, FL.  Preceding him death was his twin brother, Curtis Matthew, his sister, Blanche Graham and brothers, John and Claude Graham, Jr.  Kirk leaves to cherish his memory, sisters, Claudette Pender of Chattahoochee, FL, Sarah and Priscila of Rochester, NY; brothers, Tony Sheppard and Derek of Rochester, NY and Alphonzo of Orlando, FL; aunts, Lorine White of Homerville, GA and Juanita McMillian of Rochester, NY.  Kirk also had a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; a special friend, Toni Black and a friend Shirley Ram.  Metropolitan Funeral Chapel of Rochester, NY was in charge of arrangements and Crawford and Moultry Funeral Home of Chattahoochee, FL was the overseer of the final arrangements.

Corrie Woodham Paramore

Corrie Woodham Paramore went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, July 12, 2017 after a short illness.  She was born the seventh of ten children to P.O. and Mattie Woodham of Midland City, Alabama, June 27, 1931.  

She and her husband Earl moved to Marianna in 1953.  In 1958, opened Paramore’s Pharmacy, which is one of the oldest family-owned businesses in Marianna.  Corrie worked alongside her husband and later her son Scott, when he purchased the store in 1985.  Her smile and genuine concern for customers made her a wonderful asset to the business.

Corrie was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Marianna.  She served as a Sunday School teacher in the children’s department for many years.  As a member of United Methodist Women, she served as the Christian Reading coordinator helping to provide and recommend books and other literature promoting Christian growth.  She was a member of the Dean Skaggs Sunday School Class and in her last few years was active in the Songsters, an older adult music outreach ministry of the church.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Oakland and Michael Woodham; sisters, Pauline Marshall, Jackie Bennett, Ruth Mears, Mildred Dease , Canora Brophy.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Willie Earl Paramore; three children, Scott (Donna) Paramore, John (Jolene) Paramore and Leigh (Roy) Paramore; two sisters, Runell Clark of Dothan and Sharon Snowden of Midland City; sister- in- law, Martha Woodham of Midland City. The joys of her life were her grandchildren, Jeff Paramore (Jen), Susan Compton (Jay), Jordanne Love, Jarrod McFrederick; great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Isabella Paramore and Sam Compton. Survivors also include over a hundred nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Corrie.

A celebration of her life will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 15th, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Marianna, Florida with Reverend Dr. Nathan Attwood officiating James & Sikes Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 14th, 2017 at the Wesley Center of the First United Methodist Church.

Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, United Methodist Children’s Home or Emerald Coast Hospice.

Mrs. Jim B. Powell

Mrs. Jim B. Powell went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2017. Born in Houston County, Alabama on July 20, 1926, she grew up in Houston County, Alabama, Jackson County, Florida and Bay County, Florida. She graduated from Bay High School Panama City, Florida.

Mrs. Powell diligently supported her husband in his ministry and worked along side him raising large gardens for family and friends. She was an avid reader, an active seamstress for her children, loved music and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely.

She is survived by sister, Dianne Harrison, Pensacola, FL, two brothers, Robert Calhoun and Steve Calhoun of Bay County, FL; four daughters, Gail Powell, Karan Davis (Bill), Jane Stephens (Allen), Joan Sutton (Wayne); one son Danny Powell; grandchildren, Christy Davis, Heath Davis, Benjamin Sutton, Jessica Gibbs, Holly Mudd, Wesley Stephens and Jillian Etress; great grandchildren, Linsey and Lexie Basford; Anna Grace Jerkins; Cole Shelton; Makayla, Adalynn, Louie, Zachary and Rhett Mudd; Allie Stephens; Leland and Carlie Gibbs, Micah Sutton and Harlie Etress.

Her loving husband Harry Powell, one sister, one brother, and one granddaughter Amanda Jane Sutton, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel at 1 pm on Wednesday July 19, 2017 followed by the services at 2pm with Rev. Henry Fullington officiating. Thomas L. Fiveash, of Marianna died Saturday in Panama City, he was 90 years of age.

Tom was born February 28, 1927 to the late Grover Cleveland Fiveash & Ruth Abigail Moats Fiveash Wimberly in the Alliance community of Jackson County Florida.  He served four years in the U S Navy during WWll, Tom retired from Civil Service with the U S Postal System as an Superintendant. After his retirement, he was a volenteer at Sunland and enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching Braves Baseball. For many years, he was a deacon at Trinty Baptist Church a member for more than 60 years.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Miriam Fiveash of Marianna;  daughters, Sue Porep (Art) of Mexico Beach, Pauline Bonal (Bobby), Janice Malinowski (Ray) all of Pace, FL; three grandchildren, Tommy Porep (Julie) of Plainfield, IN., Mindy Rankin (Eric) of Lynn Haven and Sam Loiselle of Pensacola; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Nolan Porep; one brother, Johnny Wimberly (Annette) of Port St. Joe Beach;  two sisters, Myra Lancaster of Port St. Joe and Jessie Ruth Ramsey of Atlanta; one sister in law, Louise Jordan of Marianna;  several nieces, nephews and cousins; extended family, Kenny Jones,  Randy Jones and Kay Groulic; 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Trinty Baptist in Marianna with Rev. Roland Rabon officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery with full military honors given by Sneads American Legion Post 241. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna will direct. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at Trinity Baptist.  Flowers accepted or those wishing may make memorial contributions to Trinty Baptist Church. Dustin George Calevro age 26, of Port Orange, Florida has gone to heaven to be with his grandparents, Frank & Shirley Calevro of Richmond, VT and his step-grandfather Millard Hatcher of Grand Ridge, FL.  He died July 11, 2017. Dustin is survived by his father, Joe Calevro of Richmond, VT and his mother, Dianne Saunders and stepfather Dillon Hatcher of Grandridge, FL.   Other surviving relatives are his sister, Kristy Calevro & her fiance’ Erik Hammond of Huntington, VT, his maternal grandparents, Skip & Rosemary Saunders of Hartland, VT and his step-grandmother, Emelene Hatcher of Grand Ridge, FL.  He is also survived by his Uncle Douglas & Aunt Carol Saunders and sons, Nicholas & Ian of Plymouth, ME and his Aunt, Theresa & Uncle Bruce Summarsell and cousin Rachael Bienvenu of Hartland, VT; His Aunt Debbie Calevro of Tampa Florida, Aunt Becky Calevro and her husband Art Vezina of Munson, VT.

Dustin graduated from Mount Mansfield High School in Jericho, VT and he went on to graduate from Chipola College for Automotive Technicians where he was employed by 4 Boys Automotive in Daytona, FL.  He enjoyed motorcycle riding, mountain biking, working on cars, fishing with is grampa Skip; snowboarding, when he lived in Vermont, and many other outdoor activities. 

Viewing will be at 1:00 on Monday, July 17, 2017 with Funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. at Cypress Grove Assembly of God Church in Grand Ridge, FL.  Dustin will be interred at the church cemetery.  James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna will direct.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to your local No-Kill Animal Shelters.  Dustin was an avid lover of all animals. David Johnson

David Johnson, age 84, of Bascom died Friday, July 14, 2017 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.He owned and operated Johnson Well Drilling where he worked hard for many years. He loved to fish, have cookouts and play the guitar. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and five siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Johnson; two children; five siblings; several neices and nephews and one special nephew. 

Graveside funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Bascom Baptist Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

Jewel E. Benefield age 82 of Grand Ridge, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at her home. She was a native of Jackson County and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Grand Ridge.  Jewel had worked at Florida State Hospital as a nurse’s aid. She was a caring person who took care of family, friends and strangers in need. She loved cooking and canning vegetables.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Pearl Ellis, a son Ralph Roberts and grandson Matthew Roberts, brothers, Joe, Bill and Ed Ellis and a sister Hazel Ellis.

Survivors include, her devoted husband of 60 years, Charles Benefield; children Alvin Roberts (Janis), Martha Tharp (Dennis), Brenda O’Steen and Jerry Benefield (Lona); brother Earl Ellis (Marlene); sister Margaret Ellis; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday July 17, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Dallas Ellis, Rev. Johnny Ellis and Rev. Alvin Roberts officiating.  Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dorothy Gibson Gilbert, of Marianna, FL, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Bay Medical Center, Panama City, Florida. 

She was a member of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church and an employee of Sunland until she retired.

Homegoing Celebration of Life services were held on Saturday, July 15 2017 at 11:00 A.M. from the sanctuary of the St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, located at 2891 Orange Street, in Marianna, FL with Pastor Clarence Williams, Reverend Michael Johnson, Elder Samuel Filmore Hayes and Reverend Ronald D. Mizer Pastor, Officiating. Interment will be in the McChapel Cemetery. Vann Funeral Home in charge.

The viewing will be held Friday, July 14, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Vann Funeral Home.

Mr. Jamie DeWayne Dawson, age 41, of Blountstown, Florida transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at his residence. 

Mr. Dawson was a member of the Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church. He was a 1994 graduate of Blountstown High School. To know him was to love him. 

Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the sanctuary of the Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church located at 16076 SE River Street in Blountstown, Florida with the Reverend Angus Jackson, Jr. (pastor), Reverend Riley J. Henderson, Reverend Jerry Crook, Reverend Hayward Anderson, Elder Christopher Baker, and Apostle G.B. Sheard officiating. Interment was in the Magnolia Cemetery in Blountstown, Florida. Vann Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Dawson will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until time for the service. 

A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church.

William James Ray

William James Ray, known to friends and family as “Billy” or “WJ”, died Saturday, July 15, 2017, working in his yard in Kynesvile. He was born to Ebben James and Imogene Brown Ray in Bay County, FL, on December 3rd, 1934.

Billy grew up and attended primary school in Kynesville. After graduating from Cottondale High School, he joined the Army in 1957 and served as a Supply Clerk at Wildwood Station, Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1963 and returned home to work primarily on the family farm. Later he was employed by Bagget Farms until his reluctant and intermittent “retirement”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ebben and Imogene Ray and sister, June Ray Turner of Nevada.

Billy is survived by his beautiful wife and best friend of 55 years, Grace Throne Ray; sister, Betty Jo Pyne; daughter, Lynn Ray Adcock and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Will and Amy; nieces and nephews, Richard Carlisle, Ken Pyne, Karen Pyne, Mike Carlisle, Debbie Carlisle, Connie Turner Meza and Tim Turner; great nieces and great nephews, Lisa Carlisle Porter and Zackery Carlisle.

No visitation or service will be held according to Billy’s specific wishes. Memorialization will be by cremation with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in charge of arrangements.

The Family would like to express special thanks to Billy’s friends and co-workers at Bagget Farms. They and so many others have loved him as family over the years.

Jeannette Morris Campbell, 91, of Marianna, FL, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Chipola Health and Rehab Center in Marianna, FL. 

She is remembered as a devoted school teacher in Jackson CY Schools for 33 years and her love for cats. Jeannette was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marianna, FL. The family would appreciate your prayers during this time.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, Ford and Bessie Morris; sisters, Opal Morris Loveday (Ottis), Marian Morris; devoted friend, Bob Nichols and ex-husband, Dan Campbell. 

She is survived by her nephew, Jerry M. Loveday (Pattie) of Knoxville, TN; niece, Judith K. Loveday-Corbett (David) of Allen, TX. Survivors also include great nieces and nephews as well as her devoted neighbor and friend, Hanni Daffin and caregiver, Janice Maloy .

Annie Marie Standland, resident of Altha, passed away July 19, 2017 at the Calhoun Liberty Hospital at the age of 48.

Annie was born in Donalsonville, GA. on July 7, 1969. She lived in Jackson County for many years. She was formerly employed at Sunland before moving to Altha, where she would work at the Altha High School in the cafeteria.

Annie Marie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, J.W. and Frances Cloud and her paternal grandparents, Ada and Hardy Mitchell.

Survivors include two children, Jerad Miller of Altha, and Cassy Hudson of Sneads; mother, Annie Davis and husband, Joe of Altha; father, Leon Mitchell and wife, Kat of Lake Talquin; two sisters, Rhonda Cox and husband, Gary of Marianna and Stacey Goodwin and husband, Johnathan of St. Marys, GA; two brothers, Jimmy Mitchell and wife, Casie of Dellwood, FL and Matt Davis and wife, Shay of Marianna, FL; dear friend, Mr. Curtis Yates of Altha, Fl along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. Interment will follow in Northside Baptist Church Cemetery, James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

David Edward Streeter, Jr., 30, of Pensacola, Florida was born on July 31, 1986 and passed away on July 16, 2017.  He worked at Chili’s Grill and Bar, graduated from Ashworth College for Electrical Training with Honors but mostly, lived for his daughter.
He leaves behind his daughter, Betty Streeter; mother, Tammi Renee Louviere; father, David Edward Streeter, Sr.; three sisters,  Amanda (John) McMillan, Mya Dewrell and Alicia (David) Wright; brother, Joshua Streeter; aunts, Romana Shires and Kathryn Lynch and uncle, Mike Streeter; grandmother, Minette Streeter; stepmother, Michelle Streeter (James Blackwell)  and so many more.
He was a beloved father, son, brother and uncle.  He is truly loved and will be truly missed.

Mrs. Dorothy Marie Bennett, 86, passed away July 21, 2017 surrounded by her family.  She was born in Cypress, Florida, but lived most of her life in Chattahoochee, Florida.  Dorothy was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith and was faithful in serving her Lord and Savior attending Sneads Assembly of God Church.  Her love was her family and work which was evident by the many jobs she held over the years.  After retiring as a Supervisor from Florida State Hospital Dorothy spent some time traveling; however, her love for work and her community led her to a job at CVS in Chattahoochee, FL where she worked another 14 years.  Mrs. Dorothy spent her life serving others and was always willing to lend a hand to help her family, friends or strangers.

 Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Edna Sue Torres of Chattahoochee, FL and Linda Dean (Larry) of Sneads, FL; one son Jeffrey Bennett of Chattahoochee, FL; eight grandchildren, Angela Dean, Cyndy Hathcock (Homer), Stephanie Cook (Eric), Susan Franklin (Gene), Frank Torres, Jessie Torres, Herman Ingram Bennett, Joshua Huel Bennett and seventeen great grandchildren.

 She is preceded in death by her husband Huel Bennett; her parents, Jessie L. and Edna Conner Parker; a brother, Franklin Boone; a sister, Geneva Barnard and a nephew, Douglas Boone.

Funeral Services will be held at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, July 24, 2017 beginning at 3:00 PM CDT with Rev. Juno Douglas officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to Funeral Services at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Dorothy Poston Thompson, 89, a native of Chattahoochee passed peacefully in her sleep on July 21, 2017.  She lived  in MacClenny, Florida from 1960 until 1975, when the family moved back to Chattahoochee.  She retired from Florida State Hospital as a Secretary. She was a homemaker for her family, loved crocheting and had a fondness for wearing jewelry and bangles.  Her greatest passion was her grandson.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Ched Thompson and his fiancée Nancy of Sneads, Florida and Joey Thompson and his wife Bobbie of Chattahoochee, Florida; one grandson, Josh Thompson and his wife Lauren of Sneads, Florida; a great grandson, John Austin Thompson of Sneads and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Charles Thompson; her parents, Joe and Etha Poston and a sister, Bobbie Jo Haire.

Graveside Funeral Services were held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Monday, July 24, 2017, at 11:00 AM EDT.  Visitation was held with the family prior to the service.

Jeannette Morris Campbell, 91, of Marianna, FL, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Chipola Health and Rehab Center in Marianna, FL. 

She is remembered as a devoted school teacher in Jackson CY Schools for 33 years and her love for cats. Jeannette was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marianna, FL. The family would appreciate your prayers during this time.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, Ford and Bessie Morris; sisters, Opal Morris Loveday (Ottis), Marian Morris; devoted friend, Bob Nichols and ex-husband, Dan Campbell. 

She is survived by her nephew, Jerry M. Loveday (Pattie) of Knoxville, TN; niece, Judith K. Loveday-Corbett (David) of Allen, TX. Survivors also include great nieces and nephews as well as her devoted neighbor and friend, Hanni Daffin and caregiver, Janice Maloy.

Entombment will be 10 A.M. Friday, July 28, 2017 in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Annie Marie Standland, resident of Altha, passed away July 19, 2017 at the Calhoun Liberty Hospital at the age of 48.

Annie was born in Donalsonville, GA. on July 7, 1969. She lived in Jackson County for many years. She was formerly employed at Sunland before moving to Altha, where she would work at the Altha High School in the cafeteria.

Annie Marie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, J.W. and Frances Cloud and her paternal grandparents, Ada and Hardy Mitchell.

Survivors include two children, Jerad Miller of Altha, and Cassy Hudson of Sneads; mother, Annie Davis and husband, Joe of Altha; father, Leon Mitchell and wife, Kat of Lake Talquin; two sisters, Rhonda Cox and husband, Gary of Marianna and Stacey Goodwin and husband, Johnathan of St. Marys, GA; two brothers, Jimmy Mitchell and wife, Casie of Dellwood, FL and Matt Davis and wife, Shay of Marianna, FL; dear friend, Mr. Curtis Yates of Altha, Fl along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. Interment will follow in Northside Baptist Church Cemetery, James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. Friday, July 21, 2017 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
