Patricia Jordan age 64 of Marianna passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was born on September 22, 1952 to the late Dalton Walker and Lou Merle Walker. She spent most of her life in Jackson County. Patricia loved God and enjoyed reading her Bible. 

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Walker. She is survived by her daughters, Marsha Meredith (Bruce) and Anna Shuemake (Greg); grandchildren, Michael Meredith (Amber), Nikki Meredith (Jeremie), and Madison Meredith; great-grandchildren, Kylin Meredith, Leia Locke, Kaleb Meredith, Kaidience Meredith, and Cadyn Baker; one brother Timmy Walker (Linda). 

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Hickory Level Cemetery (1221 Dipper Road, Marianna, FL 32448).

Virginia Earlene Bush, 85, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at Signature Healthcare in Graceville, Fl.

She was born December 9, 1931 to Charlie and Eunice Adams. Virginia will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. She was a wonderful sister, aunt and friend. She had a love of fishing, flowers and was a hard worker all of her life. Virginia loved to work outside, loved animals and had a genuine concern for other people, especially her family.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Eunice Adams; sister, Gladys Thompson (Jack); four brothers, Wayne Earl and wife, Sue, Raymond and wife, Clara, Ray and wife, Peggy, Frank and wife, Phyllis; brother-in-law, Bill Adkins.

She is survived by her sisters, Thelma Free of Slocomb, Al and Helen Adkins of Malone, Fl along with a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.

A celebration of Virginia’s life will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2017 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. James Barwick officiating. She will be laid to rest at Burns Assembly of God Cemetery in Slocomb, Al.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

Ms. Joyce Ann Smith Culver, of Orlando/Tampa, FL, formerly of Malone, FL went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2017.

Joyce was born in Malone to Allen and Bernice Smith. She was a loving and devoted mother, took pride in her professional commitment to the Department of Treasury for over 20 years and strived to demonstrate qualities and characteristics of a Christian leader, in all capacities.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Calvin B. Smith.

She leaves precious memories to be cherished by her beloved daughter, Blair; brother, James Smith (Tamara); sisters: Vivian Daniels, Brenda Coley (Lloyd), and Judy Mount; longtime friend, Ellis Reynolds; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life was held Saturday, June 17, 2017, 10AM, at Mitchell’s Funeral Home Chapel in Orlando, FL, Ms. Linda Roulhac, eulogist.

Lillian Anderson, 89 of Graceville, FL passed away, Monday, July 3, 2017 at Bonifay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Lillian was born in Graceville, Florida on October 8, 1928 to the late Marion and Mamie Vickers Hardy. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she was a long time member of New Home Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at New Home Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

 Predeceased by one grandson Christopher Anderson.

Survived by her loving husband Richard Anderson, Graceville; two sons Lamar (Sheri) Anderson, Lynn Haven, FL, Gary Anderson, Orlando, FL; one daughter Kathy (Philip) Smith, Graceville; five grandchildren Jennifer Anderson, Matthew Tyner, Kimberly Tyner, Chrystal Braden, Robin Barfield, thirteen great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.

James Kurby Peacock

James Kurby Peacock of Sneads passed away peacefully at his home on July 4, 2017.

He was born June 11, 1942 in Jacksonville, Florida to Lawrence Peacock and Daisy (Peacock) Simpson. He was a 1960 graduate of Sneads High School and later received a BS degree in Criminology from FAMU. Kurby was an Air Force veteran (Personnel Specialist) serving during the Vietnam War. During his almost eight years of service, he earned many awards, commendations and medals. After working five years in private industry, he spent more than 30 years with the Department of Corrections retiring as an Assistant Warden. He was a longtime coach of Sneads High School Boys’ Junior Varsity basketball team, a member of the Sneads Jaycees and a lifetime member of Salem Wesleyan Church in Sneads. Those who knew him best remember his quick wit (and dry sense of humor), his love for training German shepherd dogs, bass fishing, watching Westerns, his abundant love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren and practicing to be a table tennis champion, which he was- multiple times.

His parents, Lawrence and Daisy (Peacock) Simpson, preceded him in death. His adoptive parents Florine and LB Granger; his brother Benny Simpson; and his in-laws, Hubert Earl and Anna Laura Roberts, also predecease him.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 54 years, Betty Roberts Peacock; daughter, Terrisa (Peacock) Karaus and husband, John of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; daughter, Traci Peacock and son, Kevin Peacock both of Sneads; four grandchildren; Chelsea (Hall) Meeks and her husband, Greg of Grand Ridge, Lindsay Hall of Marianna, Lauren (Karaus) Haney and her husband, Michael of Cincinnati, Ohio and Sara Karaus of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. He dearly loved his six great grandchildren, Georgia, Blakely and Jacob Meeks, Bailee, Aubree, and Audie Anderson with a seventh great grandchild arriving in December.

His other surviving family members include a brother, Kenneth Peacock and his wife, Ann of Orlando; sisters, Mary (Peacock) Kendall and her husband, Dan of Acworth, Georgia; Jean (Peacock) Griffin of Tallahassee and Angie (Simpson) White and her husband, Dewayne of Orlando.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7p.m.  Friday, July 7, 2017 at Salem Wesleyan Church in Sneads.

Funeral services, with military honors, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Salem Wesleyan Church in Sneads, with the Reverends Bill Pevy, Wes Wickard and Chaplain David Pipping officiating. Interment will follow at Dykes Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Annie Mae Perkins Rehberg age 85 of Cottondale, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 in the Marianna Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on May 6, 1932 to the late Fletcher and Ida Perkins. Annie Mae was a native of Jackson County and a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening and spending time with children.

Annie Mae was preceded in death by her parents and twelve siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-five years, Lannis Rehberg; children, Donald Rehberg (Kathy) and Nell Donaldson; grandchildren, Bradley Donaldson (Suzanne), Kevin Donaldson (Stephanie), and Kiley Rehberg Summerhill (Steven); great grandchildren, Bailey and Booker Donaldson. She is also survived by one sister Nancy Owens.

 Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the New Salem Baptist Church cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Eloise Spence age 82 of Tallahassee passed away of Friday, July 7, 2017 in Marianna. She was born in Chipley, Fl on August 23, 1934 to Georgia and Ashley Spence.  Eloise lived most of her life in Tallahassee, Fl where she worked for over 50 years with telephone companies, retired from Centel Corporation and was the switchboard operator for FSU for five years.  She loved helping people and animals. She was able to spend her final days with her caregiver and niece Faith and her special little dog Henry Earl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her only child Shane Spence and brother- in- law Robert Baggett. 

Survivors include, her sister Gerry Baggett, brother and sister-in-law Billy and Jean Spence; nieces, , Bobbi Jo Spence-Bullington (Darryl), Jeanene Spence, Donna Jo Spence-Loscials, Faith Baggett Porter : nephews, William “Buddy” Spence (Katie), Hayes Baggett (Amber) and Billy Spence (Courtney), 11 great nieces and nephews and 3 great-great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. in Piney Grove Cemetery, Cottondale.

No visitation will be held.

Mrs. Sadie was born in Holmes County, Florida on October 30, 1922. Beloved mother and grandmother, she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

A celebration of her life will be 3 p.m., Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church with Revs. Travis Free, Ernie Gray and Chester Padgett officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home directing. Hardy W. “Mike” McArthur, 86, of Malone died Friday, July 7, 2017 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Mike was born in Reynoldsville, Georgia on September 9, 1930 to the late Milton and Johnnie Patrick McArthur. Mike served in the U.S. Air Force for four years as a F86 Fighter Jet Mechanic stationed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV. He retired at the rank of staff sargent. After he was discharged, he continued to work for the Air Force. He lived most of his life in Malone, where he was the owner/operator of Mike’s Texaco Service Center for a number of years. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Dellwood for the past 20 years. Previously, he was a member and attended Malone United Methodist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce McArthur and wife, Sarah McArthur.

He is survived by his present wife, Carolyn McArthur; one son, Dennis McArthur, his children, Jana McArthur, and Michael McArthur, and their mother, Lisa McArthur; one daughter, Joy Stuart and husband, Pat and their children, Brandi Beeler and husband, Jesse; Taylor and Trey Stuart; one great-granddaughter, Emerson; one step son, Jason Elmore and wife Sharon, their children, Michelle, Lee, Jeffery, Max and Wyatt Elmore; three sisters; Bessie Nieto of Malone, Mary Lou Hughes of Winter Haven, Lelia Wolfe of Park Hill Oklahoma. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 10, 2017 at Malone United Methodist Church with speakers Ed Ham, Tom Baxter, and Rev. John Kusnierz officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.

James Clark Parker

James Clark Parker, 73, of Marianna passed away July 7, 2017 at Chipola Nursing & Rehab.

James was born April 6, 1944 in Bonifay, FL to Jimmy and Bertha Parker. He graduated from Cottondale High School in 1962 and looked forward to visiting with classmates at class reunions. James worked at Lehigh Furniture Co. for over 30 years, and retired from the Department of Corrections in 2012. He was a very talented woodworker and spent many hours in his self-designed woodshop. JP’s Wood Creations has been featured in several Decorative Arts magazines, and he has shipped products all over the world. James enjoyed visiting with friends at Hardee’s and was a member of the “Hardee’s Breakfast Club,” where he helped solve many of today’s worldly problems.

James enjoyed his family and treated his step-children as his own. He and his beloved wife “Miss Daisy” enjoyed traveling, spending time together and working in the shop. James enjoyed going to church and his church family at Hasty Pond Baptist Church.

James is survived by his wife Faye Parker, Amy and Jeff Ordonez of Albany, GA; two step-sons: Erich Alderman of Sneads, FL, and Josh Alderman of Lake Worth, FL; and four grandchildren: Monica, Jeffrey, Jonathan and Abigail.

Services will be held at 5 p.m., Monday afternoon at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. Viewing will follow the service at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. Interment in Hasty Pond Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Terence Ray Neel, age 50, of Marianna, Florida and formerly of Waco, Texas went home to be with the Lord at his residence on Saturday, July 1, 2017.

He was born March 27, 1967 in Waco, Texas to the late Lynda Ward Neel Bowden and Curtis Neel. He loved working in the automotive body work field.

He is survived by his children: Christopher B. Neel and Hollie E. Neel of Natchez, Mississippi and their mother, Claudine Neel of Natchez, Mississippi; his mother: numerous other relatives and friends.

The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Memorialization will be by cremation. Final tribute for Mr. Neel will be at a later date in Natchez, Mississippi, under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Florida

Mrs. Evelyn Brown Hendrix, age 69, of Bonifay, FL went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at her residence.

She was a native of Holmes County and the wife of the late Marvin Hendrix.

She is survived by her children: Janet Hampton and husband Ted of Dothan, Alabama, Marvin Wayne Hendrix and wife Connie of Bonifay, Florida and Christopher Daniel Hendrix and wife Kim of Enterprise, Alabama; grandchildren: Bethany Gulledge and husband Josh of Midland  City, Alabama, J. R. Hendrix of Crestview, Florida, Jaxon Hendrix and Jadyn  Hendrix both of Enterprise, Alabama; one great granddaughter, Ara Lai Gulledge of Enterprise, Alabama; numerous other family and friends.

Memorialization will be by cremation, under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Florida.

Mary Ellen Jones, 76, of Malone, died July 10, 2017 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Mary was born May 14, 1941 in Mobile, Al and was later raised in Baldwin Co., Alabama. She moved to Malone in 1977 where she later moved to Ft. Myers, Fl before returning to Malone. Mary was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rose Marie Jones; sister, Louise Brock; two brothers, Leon Morse and Charles Morse.

Mary is survived by her husband, Roy Jones; two daughters, Tina Jones of Malone and Lisha Grainger of Marianna; sister, Lynette Dubuisson of Baldwin Co., Alabama; four grandchildren, Tia Garcia, Tommy Garcia, Taylor Parnell and Bryan Dodd; three great grandchildren, Lilly and Chloe Garcia, Lacy Dodd.

Graveside services will be 10 o’clock in the morning, Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ken Beard officiating James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The Family will receive friends from six o’clock to eight o’clock in the evening, Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

Mrs. Jane Cooper Owens, 98, passed away in Panama City, Florida, on July 10, 2017, after a brief illness.  Jane was born December 7, 1918, to Jesse and Lena Cooper in Bainbridge, Georgia.  She was predeceased by her parents, her three siblings, and her beloved husband, John D. Owens, of Graceville, Florida.  She was raised in Dothan, Alabama, and lived in Graceville most of her adult life.  She spent her final years in independent living at the Mathison Methodist Retirement Center in Panama City.  A graduate of Florida State College for Women (now Florida State University), Jane retired as a founding staff member of the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium (PAEC) in Chipley, Florida.

Jane is survived by her son, John C. Owens (Margaret) of Atlanta; by her daughter, Beth O. Deluzain (Ed) of Panama City; by her granddaughters Amy O. Shaw (Melvin), Susan D. Barry (Sean), and Catherine D. Meek (Mike); and by her grandson John M. Owens.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren Liza Meek, and Hannah and Hadley Shaw.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the Marvin Chapel Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to either the First Methodist Church of Graceville (P.O. Mrs. Olene Patterson, 94 of Graceville, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at SHC at the Courtyard in Marianna, FL.

Mrs. Olene was born in Madrid, AL on December 26, 1922 to the late James Monroe Tindell and Bessie Magdalene Hatcher Tindell. A beloved mother and grandmother, Mrs. Olene had the most caring and kindest heart, always reaching out to the care and concern for others. She managed the Jr. Food Store in Graceville for over 20 years and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Her Life will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Chapel of James & Lipford Funeral Home with Revs. Juno Douglas and Bill Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing. Flowers accepted or make memorials to your favorite charity.

Christine Rawls Brewer

Mrs. Christine Rawls Brewer, age 90, resident of Lake City, FL. passed away peacefully Wednesday July 5, 2017 at  Solaris Healthcare  termnating  an extended illness.

Born January 4, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Rev. C.H. Rawls and Mrs.

Queenie Rawls.

She received her education  at Richardson  High School in Lake City, FL.

Very early in life Christine Rawls Brewer, confessed Christ as her personal Savior and joined Bethel Baptist Church.

Several years following graduation she relocated to Memphis, Tenn. and Cincinnati, Ohio where she married Walter Brewer, Sr. from this union 2 sons were born, Walter Jr. and Carl Brewer.

Mrs. Christine relocated to  Lake City, FL. to  attend to  her  ailing father( The Late Rev. C.

H. Rawls). She shortly became employed at the Division Hospital now know as the Lake City, Medical Center  where she worked as a License Practical Nurse for  30 years.

During this time she reunited with Bethel Baptist Church now known as New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the Leadership of her brother, The Late Rev. C. C. Rawls who served as her Pastor for 41 years. Currently she was serving under the Leadership of her current Pastor Rev. Alvin J. Baker where she served on the Nursing Guild for many years until her health failed.

Mrs. Christine, will always be loved by a devoted son, Walter Brewer, Jr. of Lake City, FL. Her sisters; Ruthamae Allen (Ft. Myers, FL.), Minnie Lee Carter (Jupiter, FL.), Minnie Hurl Rawls (Newark, N.J.), 1 brother, Charles (Helen) Rawls, {Orlando, FL.. Both her spouse Walter Sr. and son Carl preceded her in death.

Grandchildren, Keyanna {Naples, FL.), Tony (Talia., FL.), Cornelius (Orlando, FL.), Tesha (Cottondale, FL.), Syretta (Brandon) Talla. FL., Marcus and Tabita (Panama City, FL.), Bryan (Lake City)  and a host  of  great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, other  relatives  and friends.

Funeral service for Mrs. Christine Rawls Brewer, will be 11:00am Saturday July 15, 2017 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Alvin J. Baker, Pastor/ Eulogy. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday July 14, 2017 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.

Ms. LeShawn Leree Dixon, age 45, of Miami, Florida passed away, Sunday, July 9, 2017 at her home. The Funeral Service will be 2 p. m., Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Snowhill A. M. E. Church located at 5695 Snowhill Road Malone, FL, where Reverend Larry Brown is Pastor/Officiating, with McKinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton directing.

Visitation will held from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. Friday, July 14th at McKinnie Funeral Home Chapel. 

LeShawn Leree Dixon (aka: Nanny Gal) to the family was born on September 4, 1971 in Donaldsonville, GA. She is the only child of Willie Mae and Jimmy Dixon. She lived in Miami, FL and graduated from Edison High School. Nanny Gal always had a smile for everyone and she had a laugh that could never be duplicated. She would give you the shirt off of her back without a second thought. She was a devoted mother of her only child Roney Cooper. The love she had for her parents and son were immeasurable. She was their world and they were hers. She was the fun auntie and cousin that liked to play practical jokes. She became ill 8 years ago, but that didn’t change her heart or spirit. She would still greet you with a smile and she would still have a corny joke to share. She went home early morning July 9th in the house she lived in all of her life, with the most important people in her life in the house. She went home surrounded by love.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories,

And loved by her family JL Jackson (Edna), JE Jackson (Rose), Lewis Jackson (Linda), Joe Jackson (Essie), LC Jackson (Joanne), George Jackson (Carrie), Essie Mae Smoke (Willie ), Inez Jackson, RubyNell Dean, MC Dixon (Annie Lee), Johnny B. Dixon, Ivory Dixon and Grandparents; Lela Mae and George Jackson, Ruby and Fred Dixon.

She will also be missed by a host of cousins and friends.

Maria Randolph, 77, of Quincy, FL passed away on July 3rd.  Maria was born in Half Moon, FL. on August 14, 1939.  Maria is preceded in death by her parents; Lillie Bell Kelly; father, Gilbert Wilson; brother Johnny B and daughter Gwendolyn Randolph. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Eugene Randolph; sister, Betty Lou Shorter, Rochester New York; daughter, Valerie Randolph (Grady) and her husband Timothy Grady of Phoenix, AZ; and Wynette Randolph of Dallas, TX; sons, William Randolph of Indianapolis, IN, Benjamin Randolph of Tallahassee, FL and Steven Randolph of Tallahassee, FL; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Funeral service will be Sat., July 15th, 11:00am at China Hill M.B. Church in Havana, FL.  Visitation will be Fri., July 14th from 5-8 pm EST at Crawford and Moultry Funeral Home.  Crawford and Moultry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
