Kevin L. Green

Kevin L. Green, 56, of Marianna, Florida, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at his residence. 

Kevin was the youngest son of Doyle and Mamie Green of Marianna, Florida.  

Kevin attended Marianna High School, was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and a member of the First Baptist Church of Marianna. He enjoyed boating on the Chipola River and all things outdoors.

Kevin is survived by his parents, Doyle and Mamie Green; a daughter, Taylor Green; and a brother, Vann Green.

The funeral service will be on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home in Marianna, Florida with Rev. Jeff Powell officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Flowers are accepted or in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Covenant House in Kinard, Florida.

Frances “Faye” Albanese

Frances “Faye” Albanese, 88, went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2018. Faye was born on November 28, 1930, in Jackson County, to parents Dewey and Ethel Godfrey. Faye had a long career in food service, and enjoyed making delicious food for her family. Never one to be without a pet, Faye enjoyed the companionship of many dogs throughout her lifetime. 

Faye is survived by her son, Thomas (Debra) Albanese, grandsons Jonathan (Amy) Albanese and Christopher (Kathleen) Albanese, and great-grandsons Ezra and Milo Albanese. 

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved sister, Walterene (Stanley) Turek, and her brother, Thomas Godfrey. 

Visitation will be Saturday, December 8, from 3pm-5pm at the home of Tom and Debra Albanese. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 9, at 1:00pm CST) at Riverside Cemetery in Marianna, Florida.

Linnard Norsworthy

Mr. Linnard Norsworthy, 86 of Clermont, Florida, passed away on December 4, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Linnard was born in Andalusia, Alabama, on February 21, 1932. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, he worked in construction for 10 years and in law enforcement for over 20 years, Mr. Linnard was a deputy in the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy in the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Department, and the Chief of Police in Cottondale. He was also a mayor and city commissioner for Cottondale for several years. Besides serving these communities in police and political positions, he loved to fish.

A Home-going service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Campbellton, Florida, with Rev. Luther Pumphrey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home directing.

Family will receive friends at the church Friday, 10 a.m. until time of service.

Preceded in death by his parents James Garfield Norsworthy and Lillian Goodson Norsworthy, two sisters Bernice Skipper, Bessie Mae Langford, brother L.G. Norsworthy and step-son Kevin Scalf.

Survived by his wife Sheila Porter Norsworthy, Clermont, FL; three children Mike (Doreen) Norsworthy, Sheila (Randy) Crum, Bristol, FL, Jennings (Tammy) Norsworthy, Graceville; two step-children Sabrina (Jason) Chaloux, Clermont, Craig (Rhonda) Scalf, Clarksville, FL; two sisters Peggy Miles, Graceville, Faye Deal, Montgomery, AL; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Grace Ashley Glaze

Grace Ashley Glaze

Grace Ashley Glaze went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2018 at the age of 94. Mrs. Glaze was born on January 8, 1924 in DeKalb County, Alabama, to Charles Ashley and Kattie Mitchell Ashley. Mrs. Glaze was married to her loving husband, Dr. Redus Edgar Glaze, for almost 72 year before his death in 2012.

Mrs. Glaze was an educator, having taught elementary school for 28 years in New Orleans, Louisiana, where her husband was Professor of New Testament and Greek at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary for 32 years. She was a gifted Sunday School teacher from her teen years until her late 80ties. After the Glazes retired, they moved from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Cullman, Alabama. There they were active members at First Baptist Church, Cullman. The Glazes served at Lake Catoma Baptist Church, where he was pastor. She assisted her husband in teaching seminary extension classes for New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2015 she moved to Graceville, Florida, to a cottage on the campus of The Baptist College of Florida, where she was a member of First Baptist Church of Graceville. Affectionately known as Miss Grace, she was always showing love and care for the members of her family, church and community. Mrs. Glaze was gifted in sewing, creating and teaching ceramics, crocheting, cooking and decorating.

Mrs. Glaze is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Ward and Ruby Ashley; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: J. D. and Ruby Glaze Glasscock; Herman and Nancy Glaze Dunkin; brother-in law James Ray Glaze.

She is survived by her four children: Linda Glaze Vaughn (Judson) of Graceville, Florida; Judith Glaze Pruitt (William) of Pell City, Alabama; Joseph Edgar Glaze (Jenny) of Newtown, Connecticut; and Betty Glaze Dyess (Steven) of Rochester, Minnesota; sisters-in-law: Louise Glaze McDowell (Robert) of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; Patty Glaze of Montgomery, Alabama; 13 Grandchildren, 28 Great-grandchildren, 4 Great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

James and Lipford Funeral Home, Graceville, Florida, is in charge of the arrangements. The service will be held on December 10 at the Hopewell Baptist Church, 600 Hopewell Dr. N. E. Hanceville, Alabama; visitation at 1:00p.m., service at 2:00p.m. The burial will be at the Hopewell Cemetery next to the church.

Memorial gifts may be given to The Baptist College of Florida, Graceville, Florida.

Michael Scott Williams

Michael Scott Williams, a resident of Dothan, formerly of Marianna, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at his residence. He was 65 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Chris Franklin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Scott was born June 21, 1953 in Miami, FL and lived there the early part of his life and graduated from Southwest High School. He moved to Marianna in the 1970’s and was employed as an iron worker and electrician. Later he worked with the Graceville Hospital as head of maintenance and Jackson Hospital as an electrician. Scott loved raising ostriches on his farm and loved the outdoors especially spending time at his pond. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening and was well known for growing the best tomatoes for his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Schlobohm; his son, Jonathan Scott “John” (Sharon) Williams; grandchild, Zale Emri Williams; sisters, Regena (John) Rabun and Nyoka (Al) Atkinson.

James (Jim) Earl Tiller

James (Jim) Earl Tiller, age 83 passed away December 5, 2018 at home with his family after a long illness.  Jim is formerly of Marianna, Florida and Mobile, Alabama, and most recently of Panama City, Florida.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Tiller and his sister, Jackie Tiller Dykes, all of Marianna,  Florida.

He is survived by his son, Michael Tiller and daughter, Marsha Tiller;  sister, Pat Tiller Mills; and his best friend and brother-in-law, Roger Mills.  He is survived by grand-children, James Till and Amanda Tiller Sims and great-grand-children, Bay Tiller and Bryce and Brynlee Sims.

Jim was an avid fisherman and loved to saltwater fish near Mobile, Alabama and bass fish in Jackson County, Florida.  Jim was passionate about NASCAR Racing and was very proud to have had the privilege of building a car to race in the 24 hours of Daytona.

Jim worked in the Automotive Industry in Mobile, Alabama and then worked with his father in Tiller Construction Company in Marianna, Florida.  He returned to Mobile and opened Tiller Marine.  Later, Jim retired and moved to Panama City to be near family.

Graveside funeral service will be Monday, December 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations be made to cancer research.

W.H. “Shorty” Harrison

It is with great sadness that we the loved ones of Walter Herbert “Shorty” Harrison announce his passing on Friday, December 7th. But with joy unspeakable we rest assured that he is with Jesus, his Lord and Savior. Born on April 24th, 1930 to Walter and Ida Powell Harrison, Shorty was the oldest of six children. He was drafted into the army as a young man, and deployed to the Korean War. After his time of service ended, he returned home on his 23rd birthday. He then met and later married the love of his life, Gracie Lee Colvin. They were blessed with one son and three daughters. He worked hard at many jobs throughout the years, but perhaps his greatest accomplishments were his countless friendships, and to have him as a friend was to have a friend for life.

Shorty was preceded in death by his parents; son, Herbert Jeffrey Harrison; brother, Donald Harrison; sisters, Wanda Brogdon and Lettie Pope; his dear uncle, Clarence Harrison, and many special friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Gracie; his daughters – Belinda (Keith) Caplinger, Barbara Pelt and Donna Gilley, all of Jackson County, Florida; sister Audrey Rowan and brother Grover (Mary) Harrison; grandchildren – Jennifer (Billy) Benton, Tabitha (Travis) Conrad, Jesse (Kayla) Gilley, Lindsey (Andy) Tharp, Rachel Pelt (fiancé Dakota Ward), and Emily (Ethan) Bass; seven beloved great-grandchildren – Kyle and Alex Benton, Tilly, Tatum, and Trisha Conrad, Ann Marie and Jesse John Gilley IV. These precious children brought joy, even in the midst of pain, to their papa. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and his lifelong friend Buel Phillmon.

So many dearly loved friends took the time to call and visit these last few years, and we the family thank you so much for sharing our love for him. There are too many friends to name, but he truly valued each and every one of you

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Monday, December 10, 2018 at Sneads Assembly of God Church with Rev. Juno Douglas officiating. Interment will follow at Pope Cemetery in Sneads, FL.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Sneads Assembly of God Church.

John was born October 8, 1977 in Pittsburgh, PA, to Jack and Carol Homoney, he lived in this area for the past 12 years and was a Mechanical Engineer by trade. 

John is survived by parents, Jack and Carol Homoney of Marianna; sister, Jackie Hess and husband, Greg of Montgomery, AL.

James E. Pitts, age 79, passed away December 5, 2018, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama.  

Mr. Pitts was born September 8, 1939 to L.Z. Pitts and Gladis Jeter Pitts. He was predeceased by his parents. 

James was retired as a Sergeant First Class from the United  States Army after twenty-two years of service.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Marianna.

He was predeceased by his parents and survived by his wife, Earline Pitts; sons, James (Jimmy) Price of Canada.   He is also survived by sisters, Bonnie Pumphy and husband, Floyd, of Cottondale, Florida; and Ruth Owens of Grand Ridge, Florida, step sons, Carl Rudd, Jr., and Danny Rudd, both of Brundidge, Alabama. step-daughters, Peggy Parker of Brundidge, Alabama, Kay Massey, also of Brundidge, Alabama, and Kathy Brown, of Elba, Alabama along with several other nephews and nieces.

Sara Lash Macmillan

Sara Macmillan, 39, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2018 following a lengthy illness. Sara was born on January 15, 1979 in Alexandria, Virginia to Miller L. Macmillan and Nancy B. Macmillan. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy as an infant, Sara grew up and attended schools in Atlanta, Georgia. Following her parents’ separation and subsequent divorce in 1994, Sara lived with her mother in Atlanta until 2006. Because of unfortunate circumstances, in April of 2006 Sara was removed from her mother’s custody. That same month she was reunited with her father and introduced to his second wife, Chris Harrelson of Graceville and Destin, Florida.

For the last 12 years, Sara was a much-loved resident at the Rainbow House group home in Chipley, Florida. Sara’s father and stepmother offer special thanks to Melody Smith, Cheryl Strickland, Dianna Williford, Alicia Cross, Cheyenne Corbin, and the compassionate staff of professionals at the Rainbow House, to Sandy Pritchard and the staff at Arc, to Sherri Evans, Sara’s Support Coordinator, and to Covenant Hospice for their assistance in Sara’s final days.

Sara’s, Miller’s and Chris’s many friends and family are invited to attend a memorial celebration of her life at the James & Lipford funeral home in Graceville, Florida beginning at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 13, 2018, with visitation following the ceremony. Interment will be at a later date.

Memorial gift donations may be made to the Arc of Washington-Holmes Counties, Inc., 1335 South Blvd, Chipley, Florida 32428. Arc is a day training center for adults with disabilities, and a place Sara loved to be.

Sylvia Lorraine Jackson

Ms. Sylvia Lorraine Jackson age 83 of Marianna, FL passed away Tuesday December 4th at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, Tallahassee, FL. Memorialization was by cremation with Mckinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton in charge of arrangements.

Sylvia was born on July 27, 1935 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to the late Audrey Montgomery. A Certified Nursing Assistant Nurse by profession, her hobbies includes; crossword puzzles, watching thrillers and horror movies on TV, feeding the birds outside, cooking, knitting, and taking care of her yorkie (named Spanky). She was a chocolate fanatic and loved her sweets. Often she would choose a chocolate cake for dinner over a real meal. She loved her catfish and could eat that every day as long as it had bones (no fillets). She loved grocery stores and described herself as (a kid being in a toy store).

She was survived by: 3 Grandchildren: Keith Harvey, Kevin Harvey and Diamond Harvey; 11 Great-Grandchildren: Ahmari James Harvey, Jessiah Elijah McGrew, Gloriana Goddess Gallon, Khalaya Harvey, Tre’Kevion Harvey, Treyson Harvey, Trelyn Harvey, Alexis Harvey, Alexia Harvey, Asiaana Harvey and Adrianna Harvey; 4 Cousins: Anita Jackson, Patricia Alston, Merel Dawson and Tracey Goodwin and a host of other relatives and friends.

Clinton Barry Hall, 56, of Alford died December 9, 2018 at Jackson Hospital. He was a native of Tarpon Springs, FL. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Lewis Hall and Merlene Jewell Hall;  his wife, Peggy Ann Napier Hall. Survivors are his son, Colton, Hall (Audrie), special friend, Crystal Renee’; brothers, Lewis Hall, (Doreen), Larry Porter, (Diane); sister, Ruth Harrison (Thomas); grandchild, Furious Hall.

Barry loved hunting, fishing, but most of all he loved helping friends, family and community. He was employed by the City of Cottondale.  Services will be Friday, December14, 2018 at 2 PM at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.

Michele Johns Ellsworth age 72 of Graceville passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at her home. 

She was born in Columbus, Georgia, but considered the mountains of Tennessee home where she spent most of her childhood. Michele returned to Graceville to the family farm where she spent the last 18 years of her life. She was a retired registered nurse and a member of Eastland Assembly of God in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents James Murry and Alma Carr Johns. Michele is survived by her loving husband Darrell Ellsworth of Graceville, Fl, three sons Shawn Ellsworth of Graceville, Darren Ellsworth of Athens, Ga, Matthew Ellsworth of Graceville, and four grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service for Michele will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, December 21, 2018 in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel.

Carolyn Scarborough Hughes

Carolyn Scarborough Hughes age 87 of Graceville passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Ray City, Georgia on December 8, 1931 to the late Huey and Doris Ann Deloach Scarborough. Mrs. Hughes had lived in Graceville since 1954 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Graceville. She dearly loved her profession as a cosmetologist and owned Modern Beauty Shop. Carolyn enjoyed spending time talking with friends and family, going to the beach, and tending to her flower beds.

 Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Vivian Scarborough Coody and Gwendolyn Scarborough Chitty.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty-three years, David Hughes; daughters, Susan Yvon (Wayne) of St. Augustine, Fl and Nina Lynette Bennett (Tim) of Barnwell, SC; one grandson, Trevor M. Yvon of St. Augustine, Fl.

 A memorial service for Mrs. Carolyn will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 in the First Baptist Church of Graceville with Rev. Naethan Hendrix officiating.

Mr. Isaiah Johnson, of Fayetteville, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on December 7, 2018.  He was 73 years old and a native of Bonifay, Florida. 

Isaiah was born on August 17, 1945 to the late Rev. Willie Lee and Annie Bell (Savage) Johnson in Bonifay, Florida.  He was reared in the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Bonifay, Florida and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.  

He leaves to cherish his memories a son: Vincent Edward Wilson of Orlando, Florida; sister: Martha Johnson Patrick of Fayetteville, Georgia; niece & caregiver: Cynthia Glover of Fayetteville, Georgia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

A Celebration of Isaiah’s Life will be held 11 AM CST, Saturday, December 15, 2018 from the sanctuary of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with pastor, Rev. Cleve Wedderburn and Elder Kelvin Johnson, officiating.  Committal Service with Military Honors will follow in the Bonifay City Cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing. 

Public Viewing will be held from 12 Noon-9 PM CST, Friday, December 14, 2018 in the Cooper Funeral Home Chapel of Chipley, Florida.  The remains will lie in repose at the church 1hr prior to services on Saturday.  Friends may sign the guestbook online at www.cooperfhchipley.com

Barry Stephen Stafford

Barry Stephen Stafford, DVM, age 63, and a resident of the Enon Community passed away peacefully at his home Thursday morning December 13th 2018.  He was a member of the first graduating class of Bowling Green School in Franklinton in 1973.  Steve then attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity.  He later graduated from the LSU Veterinary School in 1980.  Steve practiced veterinary medicine throughout Washington Parish and the surrounding area for 38 years as the owner of Animal Medical Clinic in Bogalusa.  Steve was recently voted the Bogalusa Daily News Reader’s Choice Awards Winner as their favorite Veterinarian. Alongside his family, he was the owner/operator of Stafford Angus Farm and a past member of the American Angus Association.  Steve was President of the Board of Directors of Bowling Green School for 2 years and a member of Enon Baptist Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.  Steve loved LSU Football and Baseball and attended countless games over the years.  He was a big NASCAR fan and had attended the races at Talladega Super Speedway many times.  Steve’s all-time favorite driver was the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and he had a large collection of #3 memorabilia.  He loved spending time with his family and adored his many grandchildren.

Survived by: Wife:  Cindy Lynn Parker Stafford of Enon; 2 Daughters and Sons in law:  Haylie Stafford Dufour and Chris Dufour, Elliot Stafford Coates and Toby Coates all of Walker; Son and Daughter in law:  Barry Stephen Stafford, Jr. and Jennifer Stafford of Marianna, FL. Grandchildren:  Adam Stafford, Cody and Hannah Dufour, Rush Azlin, Aubry Azlin, Christopher Dufour, Eva Marie Stafford, Stephen Stafford, Jacob Stafford, Ian Coates, Ryder Coates and Evan Coates. 3 Brothers and Sisters in law:  John E. Stafford, Jr., DDS and Suzy Stafford of Tyler, TX, Robert “Bobby” Stafford, DVM and Carla Stafford of Folsom, Alan Stafford and Pam Stafford of Franklinton. Brothers in law and Sisters in law:  Grant and Maury Parker, Pat and Add II Burris, Pam and Keith Bourgeois, Louis Ruffino, also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Elliot Stafford, Sr., MD and Audry Faye Pittman Stafford, father in law and mother in law Elton Grant Parker and Anita Givens Parker, sister in law Sheree Parker Ruffino.

Visitation will be at Enon Baptist Church (14409 Hwy. 16, Franklinton, LA) on Monday December 17th from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.  A funeral service will be held in the church at 1:00 pm Monday with Rev. Chris Wheeler officiating.  Burial will follow in the Knight Memorial Gardens in Enon.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to Enon Baptist Church.

Pallbearers:  Will Stafford, Russell Stafford, Greg Stafford, Will Burris, Rob Burris, Parker Ruffino, Casey Casanova, Clint Casanova, Adam Pace. Honorary Pallbearers are his buddies in the morning “Breakfast Club”.

Glenn David Coleman 66, of Graceville, Florida, died December 13, 2018 at Southeast Health, Dothan, Alabama.

Mr. Coleman was born December 6, 1952 in Pensacola, Fl to Tom and Joyce Coleman. He was a loving father, grand-father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved the Lord and his church. He attended Little Rock Assembly of God in Bonifay, FL.  

He loved to watch football, NASCAR racing, and really any sport. He loved spending time with family and friends more than anything and loved going to church. He loved watching old television shows. He loved old gospel and rock and roll music.

Mr. Coleman is survived by one daughter, Mikayla Smith (Tom), granddaughter, Karsyn Smith all of Marianna, Florida; four sisters, Felicia Mathis (Johnny) of Bonifay, Florida, and Ann Polston (Randall) of Graceville, Florida,  Annette White (Karl) of Mulberry, FL; Alice Mathis of Cottondale, FL; also survived by vast extended family including uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Tom David Coleman and Joyce Mae Owens Coleman.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 17, 2018 at Little Rock Assembly of God, Bonifay, Florida with Rev. Joe Earnest officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville directing.
