Johnnie Mae Whitley

Ms. Johnnie Mae Whitley, of Blountstown, Florida, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Sunday, October 1, 2017 in River Valley Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Whitley was a life-long member of the Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served faithfully in various capacities. She was a retired educator in the Calhoun County Public Schools. To know her was to truly love her. 

Homegoing Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the sanctuary of the Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church located at 16076 SE River Street in Blountstown, Florida with Pastor Angus Jackson, the Reverend Dr. C.L. Wilson, and Apostle Geraldine B. Sheard officiating. Interment will be in the Magnolia Cemetery. Vann Funeral Home in charge.

Ms. Whitley will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until time for the service.

A viewing will held on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Vann Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted family:

Five Nieces: Luethel Boyd (Marvin) of Port St. Lucie, Florida; Maggie Boyd (Watios) of San Jose, California; Donnie Dawson of Blountstown, Florida; Patricia Lee of Miami, Florida; and Ella Washington (Henry) of Palmetto, Florida

One nephew: Henderson Kelly , Jr. (Chelvy)

Nine great nieces and great nephews

Her beloved Cindy whom she called her daughter

Mr. Willie James Dixon age 78 of Malone, FL passed away Monday, October 2nd at his residents with his loving family at his side.  

Funeral service was held at 11a.m. Saturday, October 7th at Second Macedonia Baptist Church located at 5346 15th Street in Malone, FL, where Reverend George Jackson is Pastor, and with the Rev. George Williams Eulogist, Willie C. Baxter and Minister Lenoris Dixon officiating.  Interment followed in the Church Cemetery with McKinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton directing.

Willie James Dixon (aka Joe) was born on November 14, 1938 in Inverness, AL to the late Comer Lee and Ida Jane Dixon. 

He was a man who loved his family and playing dominoes.

He was preceded in death by his parents Comer lee and Ida Jane Dixon.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his companion of 30 years Lula Mae Baxter of Malone, FL;        Five sons, Willie L. Sharpe (Ruth), Tony L. Dixon (Sharon), Robin J. Dixon, Calvin J. Johnson (Selena) & Anthony F. Johnson (Edwina); Three daughters Leisa L. Campbell (Benson), Lady E. Reynolds (Roger) and Latricia Z. Baxter One sister,  Janie Bias; six stepchildren Melody Koonce (Robert), Claude Johnson, Jr. (Brenda), Terrence Johnson, Willie C. Baxter, Jr. (Jackie), Mary Smith (Raymond), Mary Pinkard; one aunt Willie Thomas; one God son Dentavius M. Smith; 33 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; one special cousin Eunice Pennington; one special niece Fwantia M. Smith and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Reginald Dominique Ward

Mr. Reginald Dominique Ward, “Trouble”, of Atlanta, GA, formerly of Port St. Joe, FL went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 29, 2017.

Reginald was born on May 30, 1978 in Port Saint Joe, Florida as the eldest of three children born to Mr. Arion Ward, Sr. and Debbie Ward.

Reginald accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member at New Covenant Missionary World Outreach Center in Port St. Joe, Florida. He later moved to Austell, Georgia and became a member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church where he became a Deacon. His favorite bible verse: “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me” -Philippians 4:13.

Reginald graduated from Port Saint Joe High School in 1996 and received the United States Achievement National Award. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army where he served for six years as a Graphic Design Specialist, and was honorably discharged. Later in life he became the Warehouse Manager at Empire Distributors in Atlanta, Georgia.

Reginald embodied an overwhelming personality and spread his charm and warm spirit everywhere he went. He could light up any room he entered with a big smile and humorous demeanor. He was very out spoken and a great debater. He enjoyed cooking, singing, sports (a huge Florida State Seminoles fan), fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the former Brittney Wilson on Friday, August 4, 2006.

He leaves to cherish his precious memoires his wife, Brittney Ward; three sons: Khylen Ward, Brandon Wilson and Reginald Dominique Ward, Jr.; a daughter, Princess Brielle Ward; his parents: Arion “Nick” and Debbie Ward; his mother-in-law: Sheila Williams; grandmother: Voncile Nickson; godparents: Viletta Douglas and Apostle Napoleon and Pastor Phyllis Pittman sister: Brittney D. Ward; brother Arion C. Ward; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, god brothers, god sisters, other relatives and special friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 14, 2017, from 12:00 Noon, EST until funeral service time of 1:00 PM at The Body Of Christ Jesus at 106 Grand Harbor Way, Port Saint Joe, FL.

He will be laid to rest Sunrise Memorial Gardens, 3721 E. Bankhead Highway, Douglasville, GA with military honors, under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville Florida.

Adam Cheaney, age 37 of Sneads, passed from this life on September 24, 2017 at his residence.

Adam was born on January 16, 1980 in Houston, Texas. He was a resident of the Florida panhandle since the age of 4 and enjoyed spending time on the water wakeboarding, as well as playing volleyball. He loved his family and friends, but the love of his life was his two girls.

He is survived by his mother: Donna Davis and husband Jeff of Marianna, Florida; two daughters: Ava Cheaney of California and Addy Cheaney of Sneads, Florida; brother: BJ McDaniel of Sneads, Florida; maternal grandparents: Bonnie and Floyd Pumphrey of Cottondale, Florida; step father: Bob McDaniel and wife Denisa of Sneads, Florida; two step brothers: Joseph Davis of Atlanta, Georgia, Trent Jeter of Sneads, Florida; two step sisters: Sianna Thomas and husband Daniel of Webster, Florida, Kylee Davis of Sneads, Florida; biological father and paternal grandmother: Terry Cheaney and Marilyn Cheaney both of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services will be held 10A.M. Friday, September 29, 2017 at Evangel Worship Center in Marianna, Florida with Pastor Lavon Pettis and Pastor Juno Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in Dykes Cemetery in Sneads, Florida. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8P.M. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Evangel Worship Center. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Sneads High School Graduation Fund.

Mr. Abraham Douglas, age 98, of Sneads, FL transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on October 3, 2017 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Inez Williams-Harvey.

He was a member of the Greater Mt. Sinai African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served as a member of the Trustee Board, Class Leader and many other capacities.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Greater Mt. Sinai African Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. Jerome Griffin, Pastor, Rev. Alonzie Scott, Minister Elouise James, Rev. Reuben Merritt, Rev. Evelyn Wilcox and Rev. Dr. C.L. Wilson, Officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Vann Funeral Home will be in charge of the service.

Mr. Douglas will lie in repose at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time for the service.

The viewing will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Vann Funeral Home.

David Soloman Pippin, Sr.

David Soloman Pippin, Sr., age 77, of Sneads passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Bay Medical Center Covenant Hospice in Panama City, FL.

David was born and raised in Blountstown, FL to the late Charles and Nellie Montford Pippin. He was a graduate of Blountstown High School in 1959 where he excelled as a barefoot kicker for the football team. In the late 1960’s he relocated to California where he pursued his love for classic thunderbird cars. David started his own business “Dave’s Thunderbirds” where he restored many 1950’s year model Thunderbirds and more, also selling thunderbird parts around the world. In 1972, David and four friends created the Santa Clara Valley Thunderbird Club. After 45 years the Club is still active. While living in the San Francisco Bay Area he taught auto repair at a local community college, before returning to Florida in 1980. When David moved back, he reopened a family business in Chattahoochee and established Pippin Tire. David continued to operate until his retirement four years ago where he had a long list of “to do” projects at home. He enjoyed hunting with his grandsons, watching sports, traveling with his wife to Montana and Biloxi, listening to Elvis, Raising Quail and Juanitas coconut cake.

Davis was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Bill and Howard Pippin.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Juanita Smith Pippin; sons, David Pippin, Jr. and Kevin NeSmith; daughters, Julie Barton, Tracy Croft and Tia Hearn; 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one sister, Marti Jackson; many close friends and his beloved companion, Strawberry.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 at Emmanuel Holiness Church, Sneads, FL with Rev. Mrs. Eva Howell officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 at James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

Jimmy Ganey, 73 of Slocomb, AL passed away Friday, October 6, 2017, at his

residence.

 Jimmy was born July 19, 1944 in Harold, Florida to the late Jessie Leo and Annabelle Still Ganey. A U.S. Army Veteran, Jimmy was a carpenter and of the Christian faith.

 Graveside service will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Esto Community Cemetery with Rev. Chester Padgett officiating, James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home 10 a.m. until time of service.

Predeceased by parents, two brothers and six sisters.

Survived by his wife Julie Ganey; five children Kathy Ann Davila, Royce Dale Ganey, Tonya Denise Ganey, Barbara Sue Ganey, Jimmy Ray Ganey, Jr.; three brothers George, Earl, Charlie; three sisters Wanda, Betty, Linda; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

Ralph “Jim” Fowler, 48 of Graceville passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his residence.

Jim was born in Avon Park, Florida on August 15, 1969. A 1987 graduate of Poplar Springs High School, Jim was a Foreman with Wescott for a number of years.

Jim enjoyed building all kinds of cars, hunting, fishing and he loved all kinds of animals even collecting an assortment of them.

Celebration of His Life will be 6 p.m., Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Chapel of James & Lipford Funeral Home.

Bernise Hand Burch, 82, of Grand Ridge died peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in Marianna.  

Bernise was born April 21, 1935 in Sneads, FL to the late Malkie & Ethel Hewett.  She was an angel who loved her family and cherished every moment she had with them.  Bernise was a faithful member of Sneads Assembly of God church for many years.  Besides her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husbands, Sidney Hand and Kenneth Burch; one brother, JL Hewett; three sisters, Queenie Williams, Edna Sanderson, and Esther Neel.

Bernise is survived by her son, Leslie Hand and wife, Brenda; daughter, Marie Hand Carullo, husband, Sal; Martha Hand Barfield and husband, Tony Kinlaw, son, Lester Hand and wife, Katie;  three step daughters, Angie Brogniez,  Gina Burch Ballard and Katrina Nobles and husabnd, Brad; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.three brothers, Charles Hewett and wife, Betty, Donald Hewett and wife, Tina, and Harry Hewett and wife, Sue; three sisters, Catherine Danley, Dorothy Trotter and husband, Herman, and Shirley Matthews and husband, Farris.

Gustavo “Angel” Ramirez Sanchez, 5, of Bascom died October 8, 2017 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.  Angel was in kindergarten at Malone elementary school where he loved to read to his teacher. He was always smiling and brought joy to everyone around him. Ronaldinio “Ronny” Ramirez Sanchez, 7, of Bascom died October 6, 2017 at his residence. Ronny was in first grade at Malone Elementary School where his best subject was math. His teachers say he was the best student anyone could ever ask for. Ronny’s smile spread joy everywhere he went. He is survived by his father, Florentino Thomas Martinez; grandparents, aunts and uncles; extended family, the Jordan and Conrad families.

Janet Pauline Glass passed away Tuesday, October 10th at Jackson Hospital after a brief illness.  She was born in the Cave Springs Community of Jackson County on January 27th, 1945.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita Gilbert Glass and Albert Glass, maternal grandparents Susie Hill Gilbert and Bunyon Gilbert. Paternal grandparents, Tom and Mattie Glass of Calhoun County.

She is survived by her brother, Jerry A. Glass (Carolyn), One sister, Jennifer Fortner of Augusta Ga.  Two nieces Anita Glass Hatcher (Johnny) who was her special care giver for the past three years of Marianna and Suzanne Glass Troutman (Rudy) of Fort Walton Beach.  One great niece, Caroline Troutman, one great nephew Peyton Troutman and a great-great niece Charlotte Glass Troutman all of Fort Walton Beach.

She began her career as a telephone operator with West FL Telephone Co., of Marianna, then Centel Telephone Co. of Tallahassee and Leesburg, retiring after 40 plus years of service. Janet was a lover of life and never met a stranger.  She had the trait of making everyone laugh after only a short time in her company.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Eddie Lynn Green

Eddie Lynn Green, age 59, of Two Egg, Fl, passed away on Tuesday afternoon at his home. Born in Dellwood, Fl, to C.H. and Lena Green, he lived his whole life in Jackson County.

Lynn was born and raised on the farm and was always a hard worker. He was a gentle soul who could fix anything and went out of his way to help anyone. He loved his children and adored his five granddaughters. He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Young and her husband Mike, of Marianna, and his son, Jonathan Green and his wife Rachel, of Marianna. He also leaves 5 granddaughters, Jacelynn, Jaleigh, and Jersey Young, and Gradie and Mabrie Green. He is also survived by his brothers Wayne Green and his wife Christie, of Bristol, Terry Green of Grand Ridge, Allen and his wife Kay, of Greenwood, Mark and his wife Melody, of Sneads, and sister-n-law Dianne Green, of Sneads, as well as many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.H. and Lena Green, of Sneads, and three brothers, Thomas, Byron, and Jimmy.

The home going service for Lynn will be on Saturday, October 14th, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. cst, at James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel, 4278 Lafayette Street, Marianna. Tim Goodson

Tim Goodson age 82 of Altha passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at Jackson Hospital.  He was born in Opp, Alabama on October 7, 1935. Tim was an alumnus of Marianna High School, where he was a teacher and the head coach of the girls’ basketball team. He coached his team to three state championships.  Tim was an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt and fish. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, N.H. Goodson and Ester Thomas Goodson; brothers, Donald Goodson, Paul Goodson, and McCoy Goodson. Tim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Myrlene Goodson; one son, Randy Goodson (Ginger) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; one daughter, Sharon Thornton of Tallahassee; two grandchildren, Hannah Goodson of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Ridge Thornton of Tallahassee; one brother, James Goodson (Nina) of Marianna and one sister, Evelyn Ward of Marianna.

Funeral services for Tim will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Roland Rabon officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Garden cemetery.  A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Alton Roulhac, Sr., of Chipley, Florida went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2017 in the Northwest Florida Community Hospital of Chipley, Florida.   He was 76 years old. 

Alton was born on April 13, 1941 to the late Moses and Clara Southerland Roulhac in Washington County, Florida.  Being raised in a Christian home, Alton accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a member of the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Chipley, Florida.  He was a multi-talented handy man, offering his services to anyone that was in need. 

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife:  Dorothy Jean Roulhac of Chipley, Florida; three (3) daughters:  Dorothy James and her husband Arthur, Mary Davis and her husband Rev. George, & Gina Roulhac, all of Chipley, Florida; five (5) sons:  Bobby Merriel and his wife Phyllis, Ricky Roulhac, Tony Roulhac, David Roulhac, & Darryl Roulhac, all of Chipley, Florida; along with a large host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. 

A Celebration of Alton’s Life will be held 11 A.M CST, Saturday, October 14, 2017 from the sanctuary of the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Chipley, Florida with Rev. Tony Davis, Pastor/Officiating.  Committal Services will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery of Chipley, Florida with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida, directing.

Barbara Denise (Davis) Young, of Chipley, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2017 in the comfort of her home. She was 52 years old.  

Barbara was born on March 3, 1965 to the late Eddie Lee & Mary Catherine Davis in Washington County, Florida.  She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a Clerk Specialist for the Dept. of Children and Families.  

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband:  Michael Angelo Young of Havana, Florida; daughter:  Allison Hooks and her husband, Michael of Chipley, Florida;  three (3) grandchildren; three (3) sisters: Annie K. Bowden and her husband Willie of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Elouise Smith and her husband Larry of Ebro, Florida & Nettie Smith and her husband Willis of Sunny Hills, Florida;  one (1) brother: Eddie G. Davis of Sunny Hills, Florida;  along with a host of other relatives and friends. 

A memorial service will be held 3 P.M. CST, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness of Bonifay, Florida with Bro. Ken Leffler, officiating.  Memorialization will be by cremation with the Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.  Friends may sign the guestbook online at www.cooperfhchipley.com.

Mr. James Calvin Andrews, age 67, lifelong resident of Chattahoochee, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife present with him.  He attended the First United Methodist Church in Chattahoochee and was an avid FSU Seminole Fan.  He had retired as a Vocational Counselor with the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee. 

Calvin is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Kathryn Morgan Andrews;  his faithful dog, Spanky;  a sister, Janet Andrews (Dilip) of New Mexico;  his niece, Danielle Ronis and nephew, Zakary Ronis (Christina).  He was preceded in death by his father, James Patrick Andrews and his mother, Mildred Hewett Andrews McClure (Mac).

Graveside Services were held at 10:00 AM EDT on Monday, October 16, 2017, at Dykes Cemetery in Sneads, Florida.  Visitation immediately followed at the First United Methodist Church in Chattahoochee after which there was a lunch for the family in the Fellowship Hall furnished by their church family ladies. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Operating Budget, 18 West Marion St., Chattahoochee, Florida 32324.

Jimmy Wayne Cox, 60, passed away at his home in Sneads, Florida on Sunday, October 15, 2017.  Coming from Climax, Georgia Jimmy had lived in Sneads for the past two years. Jimmy was a retired farmer and loved fishing, cooking and having fish fry’s, and spending time with his family especially his precious grandchildren. 

Jimmy is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Wells and Jacqueline Herrera both of Bainbridge, GA; one son, Marcus Cox (Renee) of Sneads, FL; his mother, Bessie Hand of Bainbridge, GA; three sisters, Linda Johnson of Savannah, GA, Jolene Knight of Dothan, AL and Brenda Philips of Savannah, GA; two brothers, Cecil Cox of Savannah, GA and Ben Cox of Augusta, GA; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
