Peter Carmichael, longtime resident of Marianna, passed away at home on August 10, 2016 after a struggle with cancer. Pete moved to Marianna in 1985, coming from Rochester, NY where he was born on December 4, 1934.
He bought the Old Stone Hotel on McPherson Street shortly after coming to town. He did a complete renovation of the late 1800’s building, saving it from destruction. He lived in the hotel and began a business there that would last a lifetime.
Pete was the owner of PC Oak & Brass, a unique antique store. The business has been up and running for 25 years. Pete’s greatest pleasure was searching out any unusual or interesting items for the store.
He is survived by two sons of Rochester, NY, a daughter of Pittsford, NY, a daughter of Antioch, CA, a sister and brother of Rochester and Victor, NY, and a sister of Yulee FL, and five grandchildren. Pete is also survived by his partner Linda Percy, and beloved Labrador Lady Dog Carmichael.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be submitted online at www.mariannachapelfh.com
